Re: Sentence construction
Thanks Both I'll experiment with all the info that you've supplied but is it my understanding that this will not be retrospective to the 5000 plus individuals that are in my tree?

Re: Sentence construction
Thanks both for your replies,
Yes I do use AS and have ticked the census and residence fact box. The sentence that Brent has shown is perfectly acceptable for me. Will it generate automatically just by ticking only the census fact box? I suspect not.
Thanks
Mike

Sentence construction
Hi All please can anyone help?
When I publish a narrative report of an individual there is a lot of repetitive sentences particularly with a census report Is there any way to combine the three sentences and add who they were living with and the relationship.

Re: Narrative Reports
Hi Lorna that’s worked. The report operates as I want it now. Many thanks to you, Mike, Jane and all the others who help us old duffers use this fantastic programme to the best effect. On with the cd creation now hopefully in time for my friends 80th birthday at the end of the month. Regards and man...

Re: Narrative Reports
Hi Mike the report contains the narrative for each generation and then has a Sources heading with a note below i.e. Census 1842 etc but no number. After the last source image there is a numerical list of all the source images. Each numbered item starts withe the same description shown below the imag...

Re: Narrative Reports
Hi Mike sorry to be a pain but I still can’t get this report to work the way I want it to. I’ve saved it as a web page (HTML) and the finger pointer takes me to a list of sources that is at the end of the source images. The source images are not numbered so you can’t scroll through to find say numbe...

Re: Narrative Reports
Ok thanks Mike I’ve not tried this before. Can I incorporate it into the cd/dvd creation and send it to my friend for him to open as part of the tree cd I’m creating for him. I’m on my iPhone sending this as someone is working on my laptop remotely at the moment so I can’t try it out
Thanks Mike

Re: Narrative Reports
Good Morning Mike thanks for your swift reply. I'm using narrative reports Ancestors by generation and Descendants by generation with the source document images attached at the end of the report. I have saved these as PDF files but still can't click on them to go to the relevant source media. When I...

Narrative Reports
Hi all. Is it my imagination but have I in the past created a narrative report and then been able to click on the small digit after a statement and link straightaway to the source record for that statement included at the end of the report. I can’t seem to replicate this now. Thanks for any suggesti...

Re: CD/DVD Creation
Hi Mike thanks for your swift reply again as always. Firstly I should have said "created and uploaded to the tree as a PDF" Secondly I'm using Chrome as my browser on my desktop with Windows 7 professional. The path is as you have indicated. I also use a new laptop with Windows 10 and link the two t...

Re: CD/DVD Creation
Hi Mike I've followed your advice and created and uploaded the tree as a pdf and created the disc again. The tree title appears in the contents but nothing happens when I click on it. Hovering over the title in contents shows the file path at the bottom of the screen but this disappears as soon as t...

Re: CD/DVD Creation
I agree about the USB sticks but I have none spare and a pile of discs. Also my friend whose tree I’m doing has a CD slot on his ancient computer and is happy to use this method, but thanks for the comment.

CD/DVD Creation
Hi All I'm creating a CD of a tree and would like to include an Ancestor chart that I've created and saved as a jpeg. I include this by adding a Picture in the creation wizard but after completion it is so small that it cannot be read. I've experimented and the only result I've been able to create i...

Hi All please can someone help. I run FH on my desk top (Windows 7 pro) and a lap top via Dropbox. My laptop crashed some months ago and I've now bought a new one running Windows 10. I loaded FH version 6 up and downloaded my project from Dropbox, and all the records completed in the intervening mon...

Hi all I've been using the hints from FMP that are shown in FH since they started and find them really helpful. However once I have looked at all the hints and either accepted or rejected them and closed focus window for that person, I'm unable to go back and look at the hints. Is there any way of l...

Re: S S Dalcross 1934 -1935
Many thanks to all who replied, whilst I've not found what I was looking for it has given me some ideas as to where to go next and I'm following these up. It has reinvigorated me to follow up this part of my fathers life, who from the small welsh town of Lampeter went on to sail around the world bef...

Re: S S Dalcross 1934 -1935
Hi Bill thanks for your reply, which at first I thought was what I was looking for, but do you read as I do that these records are for the war years 1939-45. Whereas I'm looking for 1933-35. If I'm mistaken then I'll happily spend the £3.50
Thanks again
