Re: need to refresh/exit FH to update ALL session changes
I've raised a ticket, if not a feature, it might be a simple fix, or creation of something similar to "reorder out of sequence data"

Re: need to refresh/exit FH to update ALL session changes
Thanks Mike, a "nice to know". Is it a bug, or just the way it works! I would imagine it may do the same anywhere that a field is "emptied", Not a major issue now I know. I don't know if it is possible, but I cannot think of any other logic for an "empty" field as opposed to a "non existent" field. ...

need to refresh/exit FH to update ALL session changes
I'm sure I have read about something similar before, but can't find it now. In that certain changes do not get fully updated/ cleaned up until the program has been exited and reopened. e.g. I have a diagram text scheme that includes various ADDRess queries including: =NotExistsText(%INDI.DEAT.ADDR%,...

Re: Associated Person feature
In V6 I add most of my associations via Ancestral Sources. The other way I use is via ALL tab > R click on individual name > Add Misc > Add associated person. Also check here https://fhug.org.uk/kb/download/associated-persons-3/ for a useful tab for the property box. (does not say V7) Also check out...

Re: Multiple role for 1 person
Although this would not fix your problem, you can have an additional ASSOciation. I use ASSO for non related people, especially useful for weddings, as a way to keep track of potential future interactions.

Re: Odd display at bottom of citation window
I'm sure this is a bug, but I get a similar situation with some programs (particularly FH v6) that have a "popout" window when the popout window is on a 2nd/3rd monitor via a USB3 to HDMI adapter. In my case I am sure it is windows10 or the windows driver as there is no problem when directly connect...

Re: Insert today's date
To enter todays date in various formats I use "Arsclip" similar to "Ditto" added benefit of these windows clipboard addons is that you can repeat previous dates you have entered/COPYed, or many other things.

would an actual "non-breaking space" be better, or if you are using it in a list say a - or _ or >.

Re: Addresses
"but what about Autocomplete?"
I use mostly copy/paste from the Places tab or elsewhere (sometimes in a separate window). TMG had a good feature of keeping (I think) the last 15 entries in in the copy/paste log. To replicate that I also use "Arsclip" similar to "Ditto"

Re: New Look FreeBMD
As much as I don't like intrusive adds, they do pay for the sites we visit.
I may be wrong, but I thought the major browsers had built in "partial" add blockers, but that still lets through a lot of ads from the supposed legitimate advertisers.

Re: Ancestry DNA recalculations
Adrian, my point is time and place. For instance, my Y-dna shows most similar to some people that were found in Sweden ~2000BC, 22000 years ago Siberia, and my autosomnal dna the usual 1-2% Neanderthal. But this relies on samples of DNA from those times, the more, the "statistically" more likely. I'...

Re: Ancestry DNA recalculations
Adrian, I strongly suspect that the tools and methodologies are incompatible. If a free site like Gedmatch can do it, and there are many very good amateurs out there that can do it, and some also paid for sites; for Ancestry it should be easy. Could the reason be that for Ancestry their business mod...

Re: Ancestry DNA recalculations
Mark, yes nicely put, confirming my points above. From a "building your tree" perspective, their statistical results may be helpful. What I cannot understand is why they do not also make use of all the "ancient" DNA samples out there and give places/migration routes in historic+prehistoric timelines".

Re: Ancestry DNA recalculations
There is a glaring fault with Ancestry origin calculations, and many others. They rarely give you a time point, so it is meaningless. At least a previous "version" of Ancestry origins gave various dates back to I think 1700ish. I suppose that might be "statistically" useful, but that is not of much ...

Re: reordering the Pool
Mike, thanks for that reminder, perhaps I should not have included my FAILED test1 as it seems to have confused the issue. I was hoping it would emphasise another limitation, in this scenario, of the Record Identifier tool. For me it was the test2 that worked for Pool Numbers, i.e. Altering the INDI...

Re: reordering the Pool
Jane, from my experiment with Record Identifier tool, I don't think it alters the position of the INDI in the GEDCOM file, just the RecordId.
However, my test2 suggestion does not alter the RecordId, but the position of the INDI within the GEDCOM file.

Re: reordering the Pool
I hope this has not been mentioned already: <> Test 1 - I did a modified "Search For Orphans" query, add column for record Id "=RecordId()" sort result by pool - I noticed that the 1st person in next pool had the next lowest recId. so on a copied project I deleted the first person in pool 2. - redo ...

I find for the best use of space, and for printing, especially if you have to stitch pages, the standard Orientation = Left-Right works a treat.

Re: Changing the aspect ratio of a .pdf diagram
I would go with Mike's suggestion. Alternative: - double (or as required) the diagram zoom ( https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13535 ) - Diagram > save as > a png image > Whole diagram - then most image editors (e.g. Irfanview) will be able to change aspect ratio (e.g. Canvass > resize >...

I can't find the * anymore! Am I looking in the wrong place?
