Re: Can children's names be shown in bold?
Following on from Mike's suggestion. I think the Blue highlight colour is designed as the standard for web "links", but for genealogy suggests Male. If you do save as RTF, and edit in say MS-Word, you could easily record a macro to change all blue to a more neutral colour (e.g. purple) and make it b...

Re: DNA Fact
I suggest you search the forum for "DNA" and check some of the topics. The main point I can see is that there is no best or accepted method yet to record DNA relationships, and the data provided is still a "moving target". Within previous topics are various facts with "organised text" and queries . ...

Re: unable to enter FHUG site with message Your clock is behind etc
I don't use Outlook, but in the Google Calendar you can set the Timezone for each event. I do this a lot when travelling, it is especially useful for Airline times. You can do the same in outlook - see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/set-the-time-zone-for-a-meeting-or-appointment-in-outl...

Many thanks for all those observations. The most likely culprit is: ..... will gradually drift away from "real" time, until it goes outside the allowed tolerance. unable to enter FHUG site with message Your clock is behind etc
I am using a manually set time on my Windows laptop (due to MS international date/time confusions), which I have been doing for some time with date & Time settings "Set the time automatically" set to OFF and just this evening when opening the FHUG site got this message (similar on Edge, Firefox and ...

I long since learnt that some seemingly complex suggestions just need a small tweak or a feature turned on, and vice versa. If you don't ask/suggest you don't get.

Re: Is it time to split the General Forum?
Throwing out another "possibility": Get rid of all the sections, but use categorie(s) instead. I've often felt that the Plugin section also has "general" implications and similar with import/export can often give me "ideas/help" with other issues. So an item that was being imported regarding sources...

I like the idea, and if possible great, like the one's we have, but it is the age old problem, "where do you draw the line".

Re: What specifically can you currently do with a gedcom 7 exported file?
My highest priority is getting my FH tree on to Ancestry.com in the most complete form that is possible. A challenge indeed. Mike's Export Gedcom File plugin does a good job, but I still find the way Ancestry shows Source note text very poor. It puts into one long string e.g. )Header)__Name______ |...

Re: Lumped Source Splitter question
I think the problem there is that it could relate to many individuals with many different facts, but then a list might be useful. What I do is run plugin Where Used Record Links on the source which gives a full list of where the source is used, you can also click on many of the entries to take you d...

Re: New Video: All about sources in Family Historian
Not watched the video yet, but I intend to as after many years of TMG and FH I still do not fully understand the different methodology of Sources, I just use "simple splitter generic" sources which does all I need. re Family Historian leans towards the splitter method. So it may be slightly depressi...

Re: How to record slaves in Family Historian
Interestingly, this relationship is included specifically in the new RM9 “Associations” feature that allows non-family relationships to be recorded (friends, employer/employee, enslaver/enslaved, etc). It will be interesting to see if FH follows suit in due course. I hope this is OK with the "VERY ...

When I look for sources, the titles are too short, I can drag them across but they don't stay that way when I look the next time. How do I fix this? Re: Abbreviated Place Names
That sounds good to me, I suppose a simpler to use version of my use of ADDRess and Mike's use of GetLabelledText. I suspect it is "internationally" automated , but not "per user" automated . My plugin does offer a large degree of "user desired" automation, but I would imagine a new system as you d...

Lots of PLACe queries for comma separated parts attached. They are geared up for my Biggest 1st PLACe order e.g. Country, state, County, Town, District, etc, but will give many ideas for organising. The *CHECK* queries are to try and keep my PLACes in strict comma separated order.

Mark: I have noticed that if a Note is empty, but exists (it can be seen on the All" tab, I think that means it is not null) and is Rich Text, your plugin does not detect it. If I add a character it does, then remove same and it does not. I originally came to this as I thought an empty Note would be...

but you are using Descendant Outline reports. Mike, I am using Narrative Report > Descendants by Generation . Re: Plugin-Improve Website or CD DVD HTML- | (bar) does not create aligned columns
OK test with 3.2.7 [1] for the commas it worked but not the best formatting, although this was not destined to be pseudo tables. tempfhout.jpg [2] I amended one of the sources to have commas (ensured there was same # of commas in each row) instead of bars, but it still did not work. [3] I then chang...

Re: Plugin-Improve Website or CD DVD HTML- | (bar) does not create aligned columns
Mike these are before and after v3.2.5 plugin, by chance it also has some commas that it treats as columns. So, it had been treated for both bar and comma. I note that outside of the "data files" folder, the font and spacing changes, I suspect to Chrome default. N.B. I had to zip in order to upload....
