Re: Focus Window display of Spouses of children & siblings
I find it hard to understand why the desire to remove the Focus Window - you don't have to look at it and when it is not open it comes down to a button on the navigation bar. If that is too much then simply close down the navigation bar, although frankly I would not recommend it. We all have differe...

Re: Brother and sister marriage?
As long as they are not related - other than by being adopted into the one family - they are allowed to marry. Obviously I have looked into various matters regarding adoption and one interesting, and surprising, little titbit is that once both adoptive parents are dead the children are no longer reg...

Re: Brother and sister marriage?
I have Faith's baptismal records and her father is William Anderson so she isn't adopted. I think that the conclusion here is by no means certain. I have four adopted children all of whom were baptized in the CoE and according to their baptismal records I am their father. Of course if you look them...

I agree in principle with Jane's response but would add that If an individual has lead an interesting life, which is well documented: obituaries, military service records, biographical dictionaries and so on, then I write a biographical note attached to their record combining the information as well...

Re: Dual Monitor Issue
Hi Mike nvidia control panel did recognise my monitor so not a problem. However, about two weeks ago windows 10 updated the nvidia driver on my machine. I have now rolled back the driver and also prevented Windows 10 from automatically updating device drivers. So far that seems to have solved the pr...

Re: Dual Monitor Issue
It seems I was too optimistic. The problem has not gone away it has changed. Instead of a wide area of screen on the right as in the screenshot in the opening post, the static area now is the size of the source box, and flicking the source box on and off clears (I normally do not show the source box...

Hi Mike Yes I did all that and the issue came up every time. FH worked fine on the high resolution monitor but not the lower which gave me the clue to check the monitor settings. However, more playing, because I did not like the two screens at the same setting, has allowed me to find a better (for m...

Dual Monitor Issue
Until yesterday my display system consisted of a pair of identical monitors with 1920x1080 resolution and text size set to 125%. Then one of the monitors began to suffer various problems so I took it out and replaced it with an old monitor at 1680x1050 resolution with text size at 100% (actual scree...

Just for the record the FMP hints via RootsMagic work in the same way - apart from the fact that RootsMagic uses your browser and not an internal browser.

Re: Function keys capability - to Record Window
In the past I have used Autoit and I recall having problems with WinTitle. I note that the Family Historian windows title includes the project name so is not exactly Family Historian. I quick look at the AutoHotKey website indicates that it may be necessary to set the match mode so that part of a ti...

Re: Records List - Places & Keyboard Shortcuts
Use the standard Windows alt+menu shortcut.
Thus hold down alt and pressing VRI in succession takes you to the Individual tab of the records window. Replacing the I by the other initials takes you to the appropriate tab in the records window.

Re: Version 6.1 Relationship Citations
In my opinion if you are certain about the identity of the birth parents then their married status at the time of the birth is irrelevant and the child should be recorded in the family with birth as status and with the surname that they were given at birth. If you are not certain about the father's ...

Re: Stepfather and half siblings
I suspect that you have the child listed in the mother's married family. You should create a family with the mother and an unknown spouse. One way to do this (from the Focus window): Select the child and use the Add>Parent menu. You will be informed that the child already has parents and asked if yo...

Re: Pools
I'm not familiar with the restrictions a one-name study places on a file, but in general I would say that a given relation pool is likely to have more than one tree top. A simple query should find them. I am defining a tree-top as an individual with no parents in the file. So define a custom individ...

Re: Burial Locations - Unique
I don't know if this is suitable for what you want. Create an Individual query with a Column set of %INDI.BURI[1].PLAC>% (keep or delete the %INDI% column as you like); a Row condition of Exclude if %INDI.BURI[1].PLAC>% is null then the result set will be a list of the burial place records (with dup...

BTW: I found the odd character right at the end of the Tahoma character set, but it could not be copied. I find that the sources that I cite most frequently after the initial source entry and processing are Method 2 online databases and I use the Type as a coarse filter to remove all Method 1 sources from the list. In the Diagram>Options there is a check box labelled Check for Duplicates and a button labelled Advanced to provide further control. Unchecking the box will remove the lines you mentioned but does mean that duplicates can exist on the diagram without a visual indication.

Regarding 1 there was a discussion a while back about how to include in a place record various ways of describing the same place - which might be relevant.
