The actual error I get is on the second line of the error display - it says "closed".
This is value of "e" after the ftp.get command when I ran the debug.

Can't find what that means.

The Spouse problem was Relationship of Spouse (11830)
The final fix for that was

Change the permission on Preferences
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Calico Pie\Family Historian\2.0\Preferences
so that User Permission is Full instead of Read.

Preferences say Disable until after restarting
I have since run FH as Administrator and update the preferences.
This time they had stuck as Disable when I restarted as a normal user

So yes it's a registry permissions issue again
But it's now bypassed.

Just installed V6 and left it to default.
Now I've decided to turn off matching.
I've updated the preferences for all projects to Disable.

The link indicators go BUT they come back when I restart FH - the Preferences aren't being updated.

I've changed the permission on Preferences

Mike I didn't expect that to work and it didn't. Run as Administrator only affects the program you are running - in this case it was the Installer not FH. The changes only get saved is FH is Run as Administrator. I think Administrator Permissions must be more strongly controlled in Win 8. Why is the...

When I run FH as Administrator the change to Caption takes effect so it is a permissions issue.
Subsequent runs don't need Run as Administrator until you want to make a change again.

Yes it is 5.0.11.
Having bypassed the problem I'm not going to play with it further
- I'm hoping V6 upgrade might cure it anyway
- if not then it's worth looking deeper.

Strange to spread the preferences out like that.

One experiment might be to run FH as Administrator

I still couldn't get it to work from Preferences even though I removed blanks.
I took a sledge hammer and edited it direct in the Registry and that worked.

Removing one of the 2 expressions made no difference to the Registry

removed =Relationship(FileRoot(),,,2)

I couldn't see a registry reference to the font so maybe that's stored elsewhere (project specific perhaps?)

The attached is what I think is the Registry item.
The Caption displayed until I close the program is my modified one.
The Registry isn't updated when I close the project and exit application.

So something is blocking the Registry update.

The expression is the default one but with a smaller font.
So it's the expression that wasn't saved even though the font was.

I am using Windows 8.1 Pro with Classic Shell.

As an aside - I seem to have hit a bug.
When I change the Caption Apply and OK out of Preferences
everything is as I sent you.
I used the Save button and File Save, Closed and the reopened the Project
All my changes had gone!

Am I missing something?
