Media not visible
I have imported a gedcom from TNG for a new project in FH. Apparently the media links did not come through. This is not disastrous, because I don't have that many. However, I would like to work my way through the list of media so I can reconnect each as I go, and the media is not showing up in FH. I...

Re: "Shires" and "Counties"
I agree. I wasn't promoting the idea, just reporting what I had seen. And just to add to the list, four of the 50 American states use "Commonwealth" as part of their names, and Louisiana uses parishes instead of counties. The world is a right mess when it comes to places and their names, so all we c...

Re: "Shires" and "Counties"
I've run into this dilemma numerous times with my husband's ancestry. First, he and numerous relatives were born in and around Todmorden - variously in WRY, West Yorks, Yorkshire West Riding, etc. At one time (at least) the boundary changed so that "Tod" was in Lancashire, then, I believe, it change...

Re: X DNA Diagram
Mike,
I like both those charts, and our DNA group is having a session on X-DNA inheritance soon. Could you upload them, please?
Thanks,
Kathleen

Re: Export only DNA linked relatives
Thanks Mike and Jane. I'm getting closer now with your tips. I'm trying to create a gedcom for my cousin with only her ancestors+siblings from our shared line.
Appreciate your help.

Re: Export only DNA linked relatives
You could use a custom query. Add All Ancestors, not ticking the Spouse box and then add all descendants of people already in the list. The only people who might be missed are siblings of the top of the tree person, but you could do an extra pass for them. Jane, can you please tell me, once the roo...

Re: TMG census "persons"
Thanks, Mike, I was hoping it would be as straightforward as that, but didn't want to get midway through and discover I had missed something. I will, just in case, inspect the entries and make sure no "real" people will be in danger of being deleted through links, etc. You are such a great resource ...

Re: TMG census "persons"
Brian, I do thank you for your reply, as that is the second part of my task. Fortunately, I have always downloaded census records, so that will be one step I can skip for the most part. And I will definitely use Ancestral Sources! Cheers, Kathleen Hello Kathleen I am an ex TMG user but I did not use...

TMG census "persons"
Hello All, I am a convert from TMG 8 and have a problem I never took care of before but now must attend to. My census records were set up in "families" by year, country, county, location, etc. and now I want to delete them and record the census data "normally." I can set up a named list for Census (...

Thanks very much. I should have specified internal browser. The reason I asked is that my default browser is Chrome and I don't have security settings for IE or Edge customized. I should do that.

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints
Good news that Family Historian can now link and obtain hints from FindMyPast…….even better would be a percentage reduction in subscription similar to that one can obtain from MyHeritage.....(hint hint). Shiriki Do you belong to any genealogical societies? If so, it is very easy for them to arrange...

Thanks everyone. I forgot to use double-barreled in my search of the KB, even though I used it in my post!

Non-breaking space to keep words together
I have a lot of "double-barreled" names in my database, which is one of the only ways to tell one John from another John with the same last name, or tell Mary from Mary Ann. Normally I would use a non-breaking space for this, but I can't seem to find how to do that in FH. Am I missing something or s...

I recreated the query as you said, Mike. I have 32 persons in my list, but when I run the query it is blank. Don't see what I am missing.

Re: Places, address report
Ok, did that, but it still won't work. There is a problem with the form on the Rows page. The drop down list for Operator is empty and if I enter "is true" in the value box (or not) the Add and Update choices in the bottom right hand corner are still greyed out, so I can't save the changes. Thanks f...

Re: Place names - counties corporate
Oh my, all this and the Ridings have not come up! :D My husband was born in Todmorden, Yorkshire and his family comes from all around that area, which is near Halifax. I often find records transcribed as "Lancashire Yorkshire" which threw me for a loop when I was trying to understand the place names...

Re: Places, address report
OK, I see how that works, but I can't seem to save the changes to my new custom query. Instead, when I paste in the parameters for the Rows and try to run the query, I get an error message saying the changes have not been saved, do I want to discard. To be clear, I pasted: =IsInList(Owner1, Fulton/I...

Places, address report
Trying to standardize some Irish place names with my cousin and would like to print a list of all the places our Fultons lived in, married in, are buried in, etc. I have created a named list of the subjects, but don't understand how to export a report of the data. I just want places and addresses. A...

Two identical To Do tabs
I just installed the plugins for to-do list and individual items and now have two "to do" tabs in the property box. How do I get rid of one of them? I only found one .fhpbt file in the program files.
Thanks,
Kathleen
