Coloured text saved as black text on pdf
Hi,
I've just saved a chart as a pdf - I've attached a screenshot showing the top version in FH6, and the lower being the pdf.
Most of the colours are fine - just not the text which is the result of an expression.
Any ideas how to fix this??
Many thanks,
William

I use http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp to 'print' documents to pdf - it's free and very easy to use.

Re: Toggling icons
Mike,
that is absolutely perfect - thank you so much. It's interesting to see how many different flags were being toggled on and off - over 8000
Thanks for your time and skill in producing this - perhaps it'll be useful to others as well.

I use a free online cloud service called BoxSync and all my files including backups are automatically kept there. Would that do the job for you??

Re: Toggling icons
That's a very kind offer Mike - but it will be more than 'help' as I have no knowledge or understanding of how to write a Plugin. I've no concerns about the datestamp issue. If you're interested enough in it and think it would be a worthwhile addition to the Plugin Store then I'd be very grateful......

Re: Toggling icons
Thanks for that response Mike. Of the three options it would have to be the first one for me. But so many individuals have so many flags that I'm not willing to take the risk of it going wrong! So I'll just have to manage - a tick box to toggle flag-based icons on and off would be ideal...if a wish ...

Toggling icons
I have quite a selection of flags and generally use them to show icons on diagrams. However, there are occasions when I'd like to produce a simple diagram without any icons at all. So my wish is that there would be a simple on/off toggle which would mean that all flag-based icons are displayed on al...

Re: Speculative Link
This might not be what you want either, but you could create a text scheme for your diagrams which has a line at the top and a line at the bottom briefly indicating the level of certainty for the relationship going up, or down, as appropriate. You could create a custom fact to hold this information....

Re: Speculative Link
I've created a flag called 'tentative' which I use to change the name of individual grey in diagrams - this is a quick reminder to me that I'm not sure of the connection...see the attached image.

OK - at least I know. I think I'll head into pasting into a spreadsheet as that's what I understand best.
Thanks anyway!

I'm back with another related question...can I make the sex of the individual appear in an outline descendant report? I've been trying various approaches and nothing works
Thanks again!

Re: Outline descendant reports
Hi Bill,
I've checked that and, after right-clicking on the downloaded file the properties section shows the read-only box clear rather than ticked. Also I'm using v5, not v6 - don't know if that makes any difference?

Re: Outline descendant reports
Thanks Mike - your description looks promising. The direct line is irrelevant for this, and the indents I can live without.
I've installed the query successfully but when I try to run it an error message is produced: "File is not a valid Family Historian Query file"...am I doing something wrong??

Outline descendant reports
Hi, I'm trying to find a way of generating a report which will list for me 3 (or perhaps 4) generations of names but without any extra details such as dates or names of spouses...this last requirement particularly being needed for the final generation listed. I've got as far as this under my own ste...

Hi Mike - thanks for that...have been at work all day and only now managing to think about your answer. Using flags to indicate...
Is it possible to write an expression for use in diagrams so that the following happens?: I would like an individual's box to be formatted if any of their direct ancestors has the flag 'direct'. For example, in the following image Torquil Macleod is the descendant of a direct ancestor of mine: http:...

Re: Showing direct ancestors clearly in the focus window
I want to show direct ancestors in the focus window so that I can jump up and down generations accurately without having to go via a diagram which does show me which individual is the direct ancestor. And you're right - that is the thread which I was remembering! Never mind - I can live without it. ...

Showing direct ancestors clearly in the focus window
I appreciate that FH5 doesn't allow flags to have an effect in the focus window, but... ...as I have all direct ancestors flagged as such, how do I go about setting the 'relationship to parent' to 'de facto' for everyone with this flag? I like the idea suggested by someone of using this to indicate ...

I started out on FH4 and am only just starting to get to grips with more than data entry.
Thanks to you, Jane, and others who give so much help to those of us who have little clue.
