Customised family facts in both boxes on a diagram??
Hi, I have a custom fact called 'Residence - first marital home' which is a family rather than an individual fact. I have managed so far to get it to appear nicely on my diagrams - but is it possible to get it to appear in both boxes rather than just that of the spouse?? Hope I've explained that pro...

Re: Text Schemes in Diagrams
I've used Jane's version and it's worked very nicely for Death and Burial. I've even managed to adapt it for Marriage. However, for some reason I'm getting an error with the equivalent statement for Baptism. I'm using this: =ExistsText(%INDI.BAPT%,"Baptised: ")%INDI.BAPT.DATE:COMPACT%=TextIf(IsSet(%...

Thanks to you both - there are indeed more than one ways of skinning the proverbial cat.

Thanks again,

Text Schemes in Diagrams
Hi, I'm having my first serious attempt at customising the text in diagrams...and have been scratching my head for the past couple of hours. The following is supposed to: 1) Output "Born: " if there is any birth data - either date or place 2) Output the birth date 3) Output ", " IF there is a birth ...

Re: Addresses & Places - again
Thanks again for the clarification - tatewise...that is seriously organised and I'll have to give it some thought!
Anyway, I've got the pleasure tonight of meeting up with a fellow researcher who I suspect is going to help me back into the 1300s - never thought that would happen

Re: Addresses & Places - again
Hi Mervyn, thanks for that - I was coming to that conclusion myself although I don't particularly like it. But you're right - consistency is the thing. And that's why I've asked my 2nd question - because I haven't been consistent. Do I need to go to every individual and put each record right manuall...

Addresses & Places - again
I know this is a much discussed topic and I've read what I've been able to find but...a few questions: 1) Villages in the far north of Scotland tend not to have street names - they are just one long through road with houses on each side. So a full address/place might be 25 Swordale, Point, Stornoway...

Expressions to format diagrams
I'm confident this is a silly question...but I'm just getting back into research after a few months away and have forgotten various things. Direct ancestors on my diagrams show up with a big chunky black arrow pointing down outside the box. I think I must have written an expression to make this appe...

How to set a flag based upon age at death?
OK, I've had a play and managed to get the following working: =IsTrue(%INDI.BURI[1].DATE:YEAR% - %INDI.BAPM[1].DATE:YEAR% <14 or %INDI.BURI[1].DATE:YEAR% - %INDI.BIRT[1].DATE:YEAR% <14 or %INDI.DEAT[1].DATE:YEAR% - %INDI.BAPM[1].DATE:YEAR% <14 or %INDI.DEAT[1].DATE:YEAR% - %INDI.BIRT[1].DATE:YEAR% <...

How to set a flag based upon age at death?
I would like to have a way of: 1) adding a flag called, say, 'died young' to everyone in my file who died before their 14th birthday, and 2) having the same flag added automatically if appropriate whenever I enter anyone's date of death..so that I don't have to think it through each time. I'm sure i...

Help with a query, please
I'm trying to find all individuals with a certain type of note. Never having used queries before I'm very confused but imagine that a query is probably the way to go. In short, some ancestors have a note referring to a section number in a book I'm writing. I want to check that they're all correct. T...

I make the diagrams VERY large and then copy them at display size before pasting them into Microsoft Paint if I want to do some simple work on them.

Editing place-names in bulk
Hi,
Is there a quick and hopefully easy way to rename all my places? For instance, in the past I have sometimes put 'Falmouth', and sometimes 'Falmouth, Cornwall'. I would like to make them all consistent.
Thanks for your time,

Help - direct line indication in Record view
I've never learned how to use queries yet - something I really should work out. However, I created a flag called 'Direct' and then put a tick-box for it into a customised tab with various other flags too. I then opened a direct ancestors tree and right clicked on one person, chose properties, and ga...

Help - direct line indication in Record view
I've voted on this wishlist item: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wishlist/wldispl ... lwlref=413 for this very reason. At present my 'Direct Ancestor' flag makes their boxes in trees a different colour and shape. I would like to use the flag in the focus window too.

Customising diagrams
I'm making some good progress with the diagrams I want but...
Is it possible in a diagram to say, 'If there's a picture then the gap at the top of the box should be one size, but if there's no picture then the gap should be a different size'?
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks tatewise, that's made things a good deal clearer and my diagram is now working as intended! Much appreciated!
