Re: Reliance on subscription sites FMP, Ancestry etc.

Lancashire OPC transcriptions are not done by OCR , but by volunteers reading the films of the actual records. One of the beauties of Lan OPC is that if you have a query you can contact the parish co-ordinator directly who will check the original for you and updates will be made when an error is fou...

Re: FH 6.2 - FindMyPast Hints

I agree it's nice to have hints, but I would like to be able to reject the hint without having to go to FMP/My Heritage to see it.

Like many I do not have a world-wide sub to FMP and just want to get rid of what I know is an erroneous hint quickly

Re: Residence Attribute

Hi Thanks for the info on the reports - I will certainly do that - if only to save paper!! As for the other matter, on the Burial I was not entering place of death as that is not included in the parish register - just residence. However, I thought I was stopping it updating death facts on exit as I ...

Residence Attribute

Hi How do I turn off the residence attribute which is generated by AS please? It duplicates the census place and address and is added to the parents when there is a baptism or a wedding. The latest thing I have noticed is when doing burials - a residence fact is generated for the deceased for AFTER ...

Message on opening AS

I am mostly using AS via the plugin for FH v5. When I do so I get a message that tells me that a new version (4.2) is available. The screen that then opens tells me that I am on version 4.0 (despite having downloaded 4.0.1) and that a later version 4.0.0 is available for download. When I go to the d...

Hi I am haveing a little problem here with Sources and forgive me if it has been covered before. For example: I have a Death and the source for it is the death certificate. There are other fields which I have used - namely the 'Text from Source' and 'Note'. I have made a spelling mistake in several ...

Property Box Customisation

Thanks again for all your help!

After having 'cruised' with Generations for so many years I didn't realise what a shock to the system using new software would be!

Property Box Customisation

Is this what you need?

%INDI._ATTR-FAMILY% and
%INDI._ATTR-REF%

If census is a STANDARD then why can it be edited under EDIT Customized item? ?

Custom Query - attributes

Yes I had seen that as part of the 'Orphans' query. But I don't want to have to change the database, especially as the number is arbitrarily allocated. I just haven't got the time at the moment to cope with the knock-on effect of changing the website I think I am happier this way at the moment until...

Custom Query - attributes

Sorry, but I also did not make myself clear.... The attribute FAMILY in my project is a user derfined field which allows me to put individuals into specific family groups. Custom Query - attributes

Hello Peter

Thanks for your reply.

Please bear with me as I am a really new user of this program...

But how do I change the automatically generated code to what you sent?

If I try to overtype it it won't let me do it.

Sorry

Hi I am having a bash at doing a custom query and have looked at a lot and downloaded some from the web site. I have tried to follow by example but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Every person on my file has a custom FAMILY attribute which is listed in the colums tab as %INDI_ATTR-FAMILY% and is ...

Importing data with a GEDCOM - new FH user

Just to say thanks to you both for your advice.

I downloaded the editor prog as suggested, had a play and tweaked the file to add in _ATTRs.

I have NOT had to use a custom set of attributes - they just seem to be there! (should I be worried about that?)

Thanks again

Thanks for the advice so far... I have been doing a little more playing and reading - why can't I make them into custom attributes using the customise dialog?
