Hi! Everyone yet another new member
It's a self-portrait which I laughingly call my 'Ernest Hemmingway' look! My wife calles it 'your d****d beard needs trimming' look! A reasonably successful visit to Shrewsbury Archives last week resulted in a bit of new information and confirmed other bits about my family. I've ordered the 1891 Cen...

Marks amp; colours
I tried to put a 'few' notes on the comments bit when I uploaded the Probable Spouse query to the query store but ran out of space! Basically, it's to enable me to put the likely spouse BY NAME into the diagram, when the dates/area etc. match pretty well with the age etc. of the known individual but...

Hi Jane Thanks for the help with the Probaable Spouse query - I notice a few have downloaded which is encouraging. Is there a way to have more than one 'mark' colour so that probable children can be a different colour than one or other of their 'probable' parents? The reason for this is to indicate ...

Finding people in Manchester
I suggest you contact the people at the Manchester Records Office
http://www.gmcro.co.uk
If you're able to, it's well worth a visit as they have such a lot of local information.

Superb, Admin Person!
Well presented and well worth viewing. Now, how about the 'mark using query' feature question?!!!!!!
Nigel.
(P.S. Did you use Flash in something like Dreamweaver?)

Relationship descriptions
Hi Jane
Thanks for the help. Placing the relationships on the left and increasing the font size seems to work with that particular problem. Also, adding the families to the report in the right order individually works a treat.
Finally, how can I show middle names in the diagram text boxes>

As I said before, I can't check until i get home but when I have to select which families to put in the report, can I arrange them in the list so that they print in genealogical order, even though the numbers don't change?
That might be a solution.

Hi Jane I am going to send a diagram print along with a Family Report to someone who is not familiar with computers at all I suspect!). I want to annotate the diagram with Family numbers which correspond with the family list in the report and thought it would be less confusing ir I could start with ...

Hi Jane I'll have to let you know tonight when I try the font size at home. It's not a major problem anyway. Another thing has come to mind. Is there a way of renumbering the Families, in other words, start the earliest generations at 1 and so on? I think that they are in the order in which they wer...

When I create a diagram, especially with 5 or so generations and apply the avoid page boundaries, the sides of the tree overlap the relationship description text on whichever side i have chosen in diagram options. Any suggestions as to how to move the tree or descriptions separately? Thanks. Nigel[c...

Make links to multimedia more robust
Not sure about the 'more robust' bit. I recently had a DVD drive fitted and because the chap who built my machne didn't have the correct connection cable, he had to disconnect the CD read drive and only connect the CD W/RW dive. When I tried to use the LDS CDs they just wouldn't work at all. Simple ...

Gay Relationships (how to add them to FH)
If people using a piece of software designed for 'general purpose' usage got into a tantrum if it didn't fit in with their particular preferences, then there seems little point in buying a computer in the first place. I am adopted, was born illegitimate and have found FH to be an excellent piece of ...

Changing diagram page size
Certain diagrams I have produced will comfortably fit on 1 sheet A4 landscape when printed. They look a bit small (without my specs!) so how do I enlarge them fo fit on a sheet of A3, in proportion? Also, how can I change those that fit on 2 x A4 to fit on 1 x A3?

Boarders, lodgers, guests, visitors etc.
Has anyone found a way of incorporating people like boarders etc. (see subject) from eg.1881 LDS GEDCOM files into a FH chart? They are members of the household but not (usually!) related. For example, I have a great-grandfather boarding in a house with his nephew. How to link them? Any help much ap...
