Installation

Thanks Jane, everything worked a treat. I was really surprised that I even remembered where I'd put all the 'key' info for the upgrade disks!
Hope you have a good Christmas.

Installation

I have been deliberating for a while how to install FH on to my laptop. The old PC has v2.1(something), upgraded to v3 and now v4.13. running Windows XP. Laptop id running 64bit Windows 7. I don't think that I'd be able to install through the Cds because of the 'bit' differences. Has anyone out ther...

To be honest I don't care

I've really enjoyed having a look for other people's 'people' as well as my own 'lot'. Often, searching for another series of names is almost as good as a rest and equally rewarding - when it all goes well.

Twins amp; missing information

I can't remember if this has been raised before, so here goes. Anyone got any suggestions why only one of a pair of twins (at least that is what is generally believed by those of us doing the research!) born in 1877/8 should have birth details on the register, yet both her and her sister have their ...

Which name to use?

What do you mean, +1 Jane? I must confess that I've set myself up twice in my main tree - as birth and adopted names which seems to have caused all sorts of problems. I noticed that Tombaston had shown a screen-grab concerning adoptions etc. but I couldn't replicate for 'myselves' as it were! vliet[...

1841 census

It appears that, originally, a 'hundred' was a division of an English (not sure about Welsh and totally doubt Scottish) County that contained a hundred families. This is from my Chambers Dictionary at work. This would leave me to believe that each 'hundred' could be totally different in size/area, d...

Paper!

Thank you all. One day, maybe, I'll have the space to use an A3 machine - I mean, to leave it on 'view' & wired up permanently. One solution I'm working on is to produce 'small' diagrams with box 'marking' to show where one starts & another finishes. Probably, just the same number of A4 sheets, if n...

1841 census on Ancestry

I've logged on and can't see it as one of the Census options. The banner still indicates that the 1851 is the 'new' addition.
Can you post a link to the screen you are looking at?

Probable/possible spouse

It's not the one I did a while back but then it disappeared after some server work?
If it is, it will take me a while to locate the notes I did at the tim. If not, then I'd like to know too!

Diagram Rebuild

Thanks Jane, I think I see. However, surely if I've moved or removed boxes intentionally, when & why would I want them restored? Obviously, it will be easier to see when I've FH open in front of me.

Diagram Rebuild

V3 was waiting for me yesterday and it looks amazing. I opened up one of my files and looked at the Diagram Options box (amongst other things!) and noticed that certain options were indicated in red that I should 'perform' a 'diagram rebuild'. At first glance, I can't spot that in the manual, but, W...

How do I find a relative that may be alive?

I tradce my natural/biological mother in 2003, using a UK Info CD but the 192.com site would probably do the same. However, as people started to read the small print they have opted 'out' of inclusion on sites such as that. They are still, and have to be by law, included on the master electral roll,...

Buying Version 3 nbsp;- Advice please

I've only bought from TWR and S&N and have had only good service from both, so I'm sure it is down to your own personal preferences.on that score.
In theory,TWR should receive stock of V3 today and I just hope my upgrade arrives before the week-end!

Expected delivery date for version 3 (Simon Orde)

I'm not surprised! Neither would I have been. It's a bit much when the 'reason' is to enable faster dispatch when the product is in stock. I'd rather wait until the goods are in as the interest on the money (such as it is!) is better in my pocket.

Paper!

I was just wondering if anyone out there knows where to buy Foolscap-sized white paper, by the ream, cheaply and in the UK (or UK online)? I think that foolscap might be an answer to getting my trees onto fewer sheets as it ill print in an A4 printer, is narrower but longer than A4 and, most importa...

Basic printing question

I'm still hanging on for V3 before I print out quite a large tree as I need the 'everyone' facility. However, for a smaller one which I might have to do before the new software release turns up, how can I print it WITH the useful (for this particular purpose) the page numbers VISIBLE on the print no...

Hi there, expectant people! My card hadn't been charged when I checked on Sunday bur I e-mailed Trevor and got the same sort of reply that things were being done to speed up dispatch when stock arrives. I've hust sorted out part of my wife's 'tree' so am going to wait to print it with v3 to send to ...

Thanks Jane, yes, just now. However, it reduces from 416 to about 350 pages.
I need something shorter!
Perhaps a family sheet or something?

Maximum info - minimal paper!

I can't remember which report to run for the result mentioned in the subject. I need to send a report to a family member but I don't think he would want to pront out all the sheets for economic reasons. It should be a descendant type, showing all members of all families - quite a usual sort of thing...
