Thanks for that Jane. It explains why it didn't work. Will upgrade to v4.1 as you suggest

I am using the Nova PDF software & it's working great. Funnily enough we have FH4 on a laptop, & couldn't get it to work properly at all with PDF output, only intermittently, as if there is a technical problem with it. So, yea, paid out for something we already have, but after a couple of days of ha...

Jane I am working in FH3 & have diagrams & charts which I need to save as PDFs. As you know, there is no option to save diagrams as PDFs in FH3 in the Save As Options. If I download PDF software as you suggest, like Nova PDF printer 7 onto my computer, will I then get the option to save as PDF in FH...

Just trying out V4 mainly for diagrams. How do I access diagrams already set up in V3? They are saved in a folder, & I tried to open them from View, Saved Charts & a message says they won't open because I'm not in a FH project?? When I try to import them under File as Diagram Type or FH Chart file, ...

I am trying to publish a family history. The printers I have contacted require everything presented in .pdf files, which I don't have as I'm still in V3. Adobe Photoshop images are not suitable as the dpi is too low for printing, they prefer images at 300 dpi. He has suggested Tiff as a possible alt...

Sorry not to reply earlier, but what you recommended works. My diagrams are pretty complicated and detailed, so I had tightened up some of the dimensions. When I changed the meas. bet partners the problem was solved
Many thanks

= sign between partners
All the marriages are the same in my charts - sometimes there is a marriage, sometimes not, but the sign always appears between partners on my charts except this one. Even enlarging makes no difference, but I will investigate the background colour to see if that affects it. Otherwise I'll just have ...

Sorry, I don't think I can do that - it is part of material being prepared for a publication. I think I would be contravening copyright if I were to do that.
The copy looks just like a normal chart, but without the = sign between partners in a marriage.

= sign between partners
I have spent quite a lot of time producing a chart which is fine except that when I returned to it the = sign between marriage partners has been removed. I've checked all possibilities I can think of. I have been using the same setup for all my diagrams (which are quite detailed), & I can't understa...

Thanks Jane I did a custom query based on a particular caste which identifies the individuals I need in the index. This can only be saved into Excel csv format which is pretty limiting when it comes to formatting etc. However, I have just pasted the contents into a Word doc, which seems not too bad,...

I want to produce an alphabetic index of the individuals in a publication of family trees. I think I've seen some info on it somewhere, but can't find it again.

Font in diagrams
How can I change the font for individuals at the head of a chart, for eg in upper case/ bold, to use as a heading? I know I can add a title in a text box, but I have enough of those elsewhere on my charts, & think it may look better in print this way.

Duplicate linking lines
When printing my charts I want black & white only. When I try to edit the lines linking duplicates with the line or fill facility, it never responds & always prints out in a khaki-like colour, which isn't very clear on the printout. I am using a colour printer, but the option is ticked for printing...

How do I add a later partner on a chart? My charts are descendant down, so don't show other partners of for eg a son's wife.
