Re: illegitimate child
I put the child under the mother's name with no spouse. If she then marries then her spouse name will be under a separate tab as if he was her second husband. If the husband happens to be the father of her child then it could be listed as the couple's child. My grandfather was illegitimate and bapti...

Re: Census templates in a Book
I rotate the census (on my photo software) such that it is vertical when I do narrative reports. Once I am on the report I move the image to make it bigger and more readable. This is done on Word not PDF

Re: Ancestry data
What I do is use FTM to find links to Ancestry. From time to time I copy FH tree to FTM and upload it to Ancestry.
Could it be you haven't uploaded your tree from FTM to Ancestry. That is when one gets hints on FTM

Re: FMP census and the 1939 register
I have no problems using the register on Ancestry. When I am looking at a name the register appeears on a list of options alongside the person
I have never used FMP on sub (e.g. Ancestry) is enough for me

Re: Line spacing in narrative report
I too save reports as RTF documents then save them as a word document before editing it. This way I move images to how I would like them. I move census images to the full page so they can be readable

Re: Adding Media
I have a photo software and open it on there which allows me to rotate it. I do this a lot with census images so that when I have a narrative report the image is viewed in full from the top of the page to the bottom and thus readable, Having the image across the page makes it hard to read

Re: GRO query
This is the reply I got from support FreeBMD
'One could speculate on how this situation could come about, for example the father was not the mother's husband, but being a different mother would be a remote possibility'.
Best thing one can do is check the local register office

I have had a look at Yorkshire BMD but Halifax has not been transcribed. Could the FreeBMD made a transcription error? May...

Obviously no one can do without him.
Look farward to the next 20,000

Re: AS - Problem with deleting data from an automatically populated field.
I have never seen a brides mother (or grooms mother for that matter) on a marriage certificate unless they were a witness. AS simply adds the mother's name as it should be. I always accept that as it confirm the connections. The names on the certificate is what is shown on there when the image is ad...

How about adding a fact named 'business' or whatever you want to call it.
You can add any fact you like. I have added one called 'newspaper reports'

Re: limited functionality
I have had that quite a few times.
I opened a new Project and used the Gedcom file in this new project and it got sorted
The only difference betwen what you did is that I have never used TMG
I have no idea what went wrong in my cse but it appears I have got back to norma;

Re: Export Gedcom / FH7 problem?
I export Gedcom file to FTM 2019 from time to time. I work on FH which is my default tree. Once I have exported the file I synchronise it to Ancestry which leads me to more information on any particularly names. It also gives me links to Family Search for the names. As to sort I have not bothered wi...

Re: Duplicated Family
I used the merge correctly I compared the two and no children were listed on either. In my case both had children. The one I accepted listed the children after the merge. The one I discarded lost the chid after the merge. This happened more than once. The last time I made a not of the child and adde...

Re: Duplicated Family
I have used merge.
One problem I have found is that the merge does not include children. If one side had a chikd and the other didn't an you merge the two that child is not listed after the erge and I have to locate it to add it to the parents

If you put Mary// you won't know who it it is linked to especially if there are more than one Mary. Putting her hosbands surname in brackets will help here.

Re: FH7 - Witnesses - Females - Display married surname rather than maiden surname?
Not all witnesses are on my tree only those related.
If a maiden name appears all you ned to do is look up the name on your index and you will then find the married name.
Personally I am not bothered about the witness name and one only has to look at the certificate to find the married name

If I don't know the surname I simply write //(anybody) for the female.
For the male if it is the father of a child I just put //anybody
