Re: Importing Media From Ancestry
When I import media from Ancestry I first save it into a folder, Then open FH and copy that into the FH project . Let's say a marriage certificate is available on Ancestry call it John Smith to Mary Brown. The folder I have created is labeled marriage certificate. I save it in that folder. In the FH...

Re: FH7 - Media Missing
This is a problem I have been having. Not a single media was listed after my upgrade also many names were disconnected from other people and were just on it's own. Happiy I have managed to sort this out by opening my back up. This winzip listed a number of details. I prompted the most likely one and...

Re: Information re a historic Birth Certificate application.
Just bear in mind not all BMD details reached the GRO. So it is best to search the local history centre. Since West Ham has been the place mentioned there could be details in the Metropolitan archives. I have found some certificates here and downloaded them free. As I have said the GRO does not have...

Re: Syncronisation with popular genealogy sites (Ancestry; FMP)
I use FH as my default file and all family details are posted on there. I never put any details directly on FTM From time to time I copy the GEDCOM part to FTM so that I can get links to Ancestry. That is information that is available on there. When I have names which are not directly related to me ...

Re: Is FH As Good As We Think
Those you mention, including yourself, deserve some kind of honour for all you have done to help all who have FH in solving their problems. I am no expert in these things but it puzzles me as to how you manage to find time to repond to the numerous queries.
Well done all of you

Re: Microsoft OneDrive
One Drive does ask for a new password from time to time to improve your security. I have had this request quite a few times and it won't allow me to use a passowrd I had used before so I always had to think of a new password which will then apply to all MS accounts. I do like One Drive and it is on ...

Never used the flags so have no idea how useful they are. In anycase I have better use of my time than bother with flags

Re: Marriage Witnesses
I will have to remember to do this next time I use it. Itis rare for anybody to know who the best man is and I never understood why that was a default.
If I recall correctly the burial details have a witness drop down menu. How many people know the witness names?

Re: Y-DNA test
My grtandfather was illegitamatew and baptised under his mother's maiden name of Briggs in 1962. His mother married Charles Markham in 1865 and he used the Markham surname ever since. I had a DNA test to see if Charles could be his father. It turned out he isn't and his father is of Polish origin. S...

When I save a census I put it in the form of RG11-2345_Fo-67_Page-89 Name year of birth
2345 being the piece number.
All my census images are saved in separate folders for each year census.

You can try doing a right click and see what the menu shows. If the list includes taking a screen shot use the curor to cover the area of the shot you want then prompt copy and open it on a photo software. I do this all the time including FreeBMD details on ancestry and post the image as a media fil...

The reason I put (Baker) is simply because she married a Smith and this would separate the two children assuming they both have different fathers. When more details are available then changes can be made

Re: Connect two people
Leaving the surname blank won't help much as there could be many other blank surnames. Whether Sue had been married or not but the surname with brackets (Baker) that way you will find her if you find she had been married and know her maiden name or if Mary was found to be illegimate just remove the ...

Re: Connect two people
I would describe the children as half siblings. Mary Baker could be the illegimate child of Sue. If that be the case then Sue's maiden name will be Baker. A birth certificate for Mary or her baprism details will see is Sue had been married before or if she is illegitimate

I prefer the displays to be shown vertically because when I do a narrative report and print it the images will cover a page and will be readable. If these are printed horizontally they are squeezed to fit the width of the page. If I want to view the image on my computer I just open them on my softwa...
