Re: Exporting To Excel To Edit, Then Importing Back
That is possible but would not be a recommended way of working. On export and on reimport you may lose some data you may lose media links etc. If your relative can do the editing within 30 days he/she could use the free 30 day trial of FH to do the editing. Alternatively there are free genealogy pro...

Re: Exporting query results to MS Access
I use the plain csv option for my exports into Excel without issue. I don't use Access any more but I seem to remember that there is an option to import a CSV file into a new database.
What exact problem are you having with your exports?

Can anyone currently running FH using these emulators on Linux please let me know the flavours of Linux and version numbers that you are using? As many replies as possible please so I get a full pi...

David
I am with Mike and don't bother.
However, it would be easy to create it as a source in its own right and then attach it to the appropriate facts as well as the actual census page transcription.

Re: Corruption discovered in TMG import made in 2009
There are a couple of programmes that I am aware of Gedcom Validator from Chronoplex FTAnalyzer available in the Windows store The first will need you to export your gedcom as a utf-8 version as it won't work with the utf-16 FH standard format. Doing this may fix your issue. The second programme wil...

Re: I would like to share my family historian project with my cousin who is now a family historian user.
One way is to do a medium backup. Email her the resulting zip file. All she then needs to do is restore from backup in FH and she will have all your information including images. One thing to be aware of is that you may be in breach of copyright/website T's & C's if you share images of records that ...

Re: Use of C and E drives on pc
I think to move away from the default C for program installation is best avoided, especially in your situation, where the C is an SSD, and so generally better for speedy start up of programmes. Sorry I do not agree with this advice with only 110gb drive, if you have a lot of programmes you will soo...

Re: Death & Burial entries
One way to do this is to create a source for the certificate and then turn on Automatic Source Citations with that new source as the input record and then add it to the Burial and Death facts. Otherwise you can select more than one fact in the facts dropdown list with click and ctrl / shift click on...

Re: Marking and connecting DNA relatives
I do a surname study and have several hundred unconnected trees in one master FH project. It is easy to add an 'unconnected' individual just go to Add > Unrelated Individual and add the person then build their tree backwards and add to it in the normal way. When you get to the common ancestor you ju...

Re: Review Folder Permissions Plugin Snippet
Mike I have in fact set it to E:\ for the projects folder. I have other mapped folders on my Mac HDD for other Windows apps to access. It seems as though it is FH that is reporting the location \\VBOXSVR\Family_Historian_Projects as that is what is set in the Project Window. I have now set it to E:\...

My Mac folders are mapped drives so do have a Windows drive letter assigned. It seems as though your plugin seems to be ignoring the mapped letter and actually looking at share folder structure. Could you swap it to look at drive letters?

Mervyn Thanks for that information. I hadn't done any digging into the reasons. Like you for my main research I use a VM, I only use a POM instance on my iMac for quick lookups rather than the time it takes to fire up the VM. I have not gone to Catalina as there are some other 32 bit Mac apps that I...

A couple of interesting things. The new one failed to install on the VM and overwrite the old version came up with unable to install. I manually deleted the old one and installed the new one fine. Still an issue though.

I attach as 11 separate images to one source. However, with a good image editing programme they could be combined into one image. Load the first one and then increase the canvas size to 11 times its current width or height whichever you prefer and then drop each of the other images into it. The save...

William There is no right or wrong way to do this like all things genealogical it is what works best for you. If you think about it what you are proposing is multiple trees. Your childrens tree would start with them and have both you and your wife in it but would it include their siblings? Whereas y...
