Re: limited functionality

It sounds like you just opened the gedcom rather than importing it to a project. That warning comes up when you open a gedcom rather than a project.

Re: Ancestral Sources Data Entry plugin issue

Thanks Nick it isn't a one-off I first found it yesterday and waited until today when I had confirmed it. Must just be oott an annoyance rather than a major issue.

Ancestral Sources Data Entry plugin issue

I am still running FH v6.2.7 (on my VM). I have the latest version of this plugin v4.9 and am using Ancestral Sources v7.0.14. On invoking the plugin and selecting census (I haven't tried the other record types yet) The focus individual's ID is not passed to AS and the person has to be searched for....

Re: Slow save on network share

Yes a NAS drive would definitely help with that in that you both write data over your network so it will be the speed of your network connection that will dictate how fast the data is written rather than if you computer is doing something else. You can buy a cheap single disk NAS for under £100 but ...

Re: One Name Studies

It depends would be my answer. If your surname / one name study is only for you then all in one project is probably best. However, if you are a member of or going to join The Surname Society or Guild of One-Name studies, then you would probably be better off with a separate project. You can always e...

FH6 correct age at marriage?

I used AS to create a marriage record. The image was poor and I misread the age of the husband as per the attached image. I want to correct the age now having found his birth record. I have edited the source record but the incorrect age still shows up in the Focus Window. How do I get the correct ag...

Re: Slow save on network share

It is worth taking a look at a NAS drive rather than a network share on your own computer. These have advantages in that you can also access the data when away from home if required. Also check your and his network connections wifi bands go for 5ghz connection for wifi if possible. Also check what y...

Re: FH v7 and windows emulators WARNING

That is likely to be something different. Parallels is not an emulator but a Virtual Machine as you need a full copy of Windows. It soulds like a video driver problem with Parallels.

Re: FH and Cloudbooks

Trevor Some time ago I tried FH on a Windows Tablet running Win7. This was a low powered device. I stored my data on a micro SD card and it worked fine. I did try connecting it to my TV via HDMI and had a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and it worked fine. The low power processor was not an issue. I di...

FH v7 and windows emulators WARNING

To any Mac / Linux users of FH due to the new functionality in FH v7 some of that functionality is not available in the emulators such as PlayOnMac / PlayOnLinux, Crossover and Wine. It is, however, fully functional in a VM.

Re: Whatsapp as a Source

One way would be to screen shot the information and save it as a jpg or png file. Create a new source and add the image to that new source. You could also cut and paste the text into a txt or doc file and do the same thing with a new source and either attach the file or paste it into the 'Text from ...

You can create a query and then save the result as a CSV file and just send that to him. That will give him what he is asking for.

Crossover earlier than V18 was a bit troublesome to get FH working reliably. I am running Crossover v20 and the majority of issues are now resolved. I would suggest that you update to a more recent version of Crossover.

Importing from MyHeritage - WARNING

I recently received a gedcom from someone who had exported it from MyHeritage Family Tree Builder. When I had it uploaded into a new project I found that I had over 1600 records with no names but with some facts. I also had another 400+ correct records. After some analysis I found that it was a part...
