Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
No problem Gerry, glad you got it working.
I can now confirm that 4.0.1 also works fine and the upgrade in the Bottle worked perfectly.

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
I have a lot more installed in my bottle than you. So much in fact that I can't get them all on the screen, the 2 line items missing off the top of mine are Ancestral Sources and Crossover Screen Shot 2014-04-25 at 8.52.54 AM.png You are missing the Net framework which is critical. Read through the ...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
All Just to confirm that AS v4.0.0 works perfectly in my existing Family Historian Bottle. Even though Crossover advised not installing it in that Bottle I took a chance and did. It overwrote the V3 of Ancestral Sources that was already in the Bottle and it runs fine so far with the limited testing ...

Jane,
Not a great lover of the Orange but will live with it.
Whilst you are tweaking things is there any chance of turning on quick reply? I prefer this as a way of working.

Re: One or more sources for an event?
Nick Sorry that I have irritated you  that was not the intention. We were talking at crossed purposes and I misunderstood what you were saying. The misunderstanding arose because the current live version of AS does replace some of my existing sources when a new source is added. Maybe I am usin...

One or more sources for an event?
I am beta testing the new Ancestral Sources plugin and Nick and I had an email discussion about multiple sources for an event. I am of the view that I want all sources to an event retained in my database, Nick says that that is unusual and most FH users only want one source for an event. [Edit by Ni...

Re: How to tweak Find Duplicates?
Mike
Thanks for the updated plugin. Downloading it now.
Sorry I did not answer your questions specifically. If they were different the 'Tidy Places' that I did probably sorted it, anyway in the end I merged them as they were duplicates. Sorry that I ran the update before I answered your question.

I have tried it with Ancestry.co.uk and Findmypast.com against the US and UK census and it is working fine for me.

Gerry
The current versions do work but on the paid Crossover not on the free Wine though. The problem with Wine is it won't do the update from 5.0.7 to 5.0.9 of FH and this is required for some plugins. Other than that it works. Read the Knowledge Base article and if you need any specific help PM me.

Once AS4 is available I am going to give it a go at getting the MAC to run both AS and FH under Win 7 in a bottle and will update you as to how that goes.

Re: FH running on Wine
Mike I was just thinking the same thing. Nothing at all from the Wine developer but he does say he is busy and will reply as and when. I have had nothing more from Codeweavers or Calico about the rendering problem. So no more news I am afraid. :( The good news is that I haven't found any issues othe...

Re: FH running on Wine
Mike I have never mentioned crashes only lockups, bad wording by Codeweavers. I will go back to them with the backup folder name issue. Unable to test the script and 5.07 at the moment as I am having some problems with Wine and have deleted it and am awaiting an updated beta from the developer. The ...

Re: FH running on Wine
Crossover Update. I have had a reply from CodeWeavers about the weird character issue and it isn't good news. There's no fix I'm aware of. The program is likely crashing in a way that it can't even determine the error message file location string and that's where the garbage text is coming from. Yo...

Wine Update: I have tried the beta version and I have installed WSH 5.7. Running the Test Script plugin gives the same error on both Ancestral Sources and Backup & Restore. Screen Shot 2014-02-24 at 16.58.31.png Screen Shot 2014-02-24 at 16.58.45.png I have been unable to run the update from 5.07 to...

Re: FH running on Wine
I have just gone backwards and forwards with AS and FH and now both seem to be running fine. BUT AS now shuts down on save which isn't much of a chore just not the behaviour I am used to (unless it is a setting I have changed). If you force keep open Ancestral Sources by running it separately from i...

Mike I have downloaded and run the new script see the environment variables results in the attached screenshot. I can confirm that Windows Script 5.6 is installed by default and therefore available to all applications.
I have raised a call with Codeweavers and will let you know the outcome.

Re: FH running on Wine
Mike Crossover won't allow FH to install in a Win7 Bottle as it says that it is not a compatible OS!!! It will allow AS 32 Bit to install to a Win7 Bottle. I am still looking for the UTF8 setting. Yes both Net Framework and C++ are installed. Both of those keys are present in the Registry. A couple ...

Mike We have moved forward a small amount. I installed IE7 and Core Fonts. I still get exactly the same 3 dialog boxes with the same Chinese characters in the second one. Bottle type is Win XP which is the default. As a result I installed 32 bit AS. The bit of good news: Returning to FH from AS afte...
