Re: Scaleable Vector Graphic (SVG) output for charts
It is certainly the case that SVG files can potentially contain unsafe code, and that is why Wordpress has this restriction. But this is not unique to SVG - many other file types (including HTML) can contain scripts that are potentially harmful. Wordpress wisely takes precautions against all of the...

Re: Scaleable Vector Graphic (SVG) output for charts
I think that this idea certainly has merit. I don't know any LUA so don't know if this would be possible as a plugin and if not it would have to be a major implementation by Calico Pie to fulfil all of @Alyn's suggestions. If converting a report to SVG using a plugin this would be a start. I suspect...

Re: FH on Mac or Unix
Do we know whether FH7 is stable on Windows 10 in VirtualBox running on MacOS 10.14 (Mojave), yet? If there is a thread discussing this, please point me at it. I couldn't find one using the search function, but I thought I skimmed one the other day discussing problems. Yes it is and it works fine a...

Thanks for that. Like you I cannot get Edge to install into Crossover.
I always use the external browser option as well so the only issue is that we won't get the CP notifications that they are now sending in the new internal browser.

Edge is also available as a supported application in the Crossover installer and can be added to a bottle.

Re: FH v7.0.7 and Crossover
I have heard back from Codeweavers and they have confirmed that this is a Crossover issue. The good news is that this has been fixed in Wine and will be fixed in the next release of Crossover.

FH v7.0.7 and Crossover
This post is for information: I have just updated FH to v7.0.7 running on Crossover v20.0.4 on a Mac. The update installs fine, during the installation it asks if you want to install WebView2 for the new web browser integration. If you select yes to the installation of WebView2 at the end of the ins...

Re: TMG conversion of UK census custom tags - new user
Have you looked in the Knowledgebase at KnowledgeBase just search for TMG there are several articles.
I would suggest that this one is a good one to start with https://www.family-historian.co.uk/help ... hecks.html

Re: Person Edit Screen
Why have so many places to ask and answer questions? Why not just stick to or prioritise this forum? The FB group is for people who don't do forums but directs questioners to this forum for anything complex. It is also a show case for FHUG. This forum is run by the User Group as is the Knowledgebas...

Re: FH7 running on Crossover - no paragaphs in notes
Using the ctrl and cmd alt, double left clicking on note: still no new line - block text You need to edit the note in this mode and save it. Providing you open it the same way again then any cr's that you have placed in the note will be retained. Apologies 'tatewise' but cannot see the [...] button...

Re: FH7 running on Crossover - no paragaphs in notes
I have just had a play with this and this is what I have found. If you follow MT's advice below in #1 ( use CMD CTRL on a Mac NOT CTRL ALT ) carriage returns are honoured and retained on closing the note. The carriage returns are preserved providing that you open the note in the same way. If however...

Re: GEDCOM 7.0
However, don't knock GEDCOM 7.0 as I believe it is a significant step forward. Not perfect but a step in the right direction. It is a shame that they didn't go further with this new specification, I understand that there were some contributors who wanted to take it further and others who wanted to ...

Re: Linux
You can run Windows and Linux on the same box either dual boot or with a Virtual Machine such as Virtual Box. FH v7.0.4 improved things with regard to Crossover, there are still issues with tables in Rich Text but imho that is manageable

Re: Research Notes
I run V7 on a VM but using VirtualBox not Parallels. I am afraid I have no experience of Parallels. VirtualBox maps the Mac's keyboard so Delete and right click work fine, the only thing to remember in Windows is that you use Ctrl instead of Cmd and the letters that go with those keys is the same in...

Re: Screen scraping MyHeritage Web Page Data
This is probably against the My Heritage terms of Service so you need to check on that. As you have found there are several screen scraping utilities available but all of them will require work to massage the data to get it suitable for importing to FH. If you have a lot to do you could create a cus...

Re: Multiple Icons... but no app
I suspect with a core duo and that much ram without an ssd you will be paging a fair bit to disk and that will impact performance. You may be better off using Crossover rather than Parallels. The multiple icons issue is very odd. Have you installed V7 using the administrator install? It may be an id...

Re: Multiple Icons... but no app
Bearing in mind that Parallels is a Virtual Machine you are running a full version of Windows so you SHOULD have no issue with running FH. However, a 2008 iMac with Mojave may be your issue as a 2008 is only intended to run with El Capitan not with Mojave. Do you have sufficient ram to be running Pa...
