Re: FH v7.09 and Crossover v21.1 & reports
So far I have tried Family Group Sheet and Descendants and both have failed.

FH v7.09 and Crossover v21.1 & reports
I am running the above configuration on my Mac laptop running Mojave. For the first time in a while (updated FH and Crossover since last run) I have tried running a report and FH is crashing on running the report. Has anyone else had similar problems? Other FH functionality including Charts is worki...

Those are phpbb security settings. You should be able to use the code tags </> in the menu bar if not a zip of it as an attachment is one way to get around the issue.

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks
@Mike As I said right at the start of this discussion it is not difficult to construct a small tree purely in html and css (it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Tony's SVG trees) but would deliver what you want. The code I offered is a starting point and should be, for someone of your LUA e...

Re: Two Computers, One Set of FH data files
It can be done that way. However, a better way may be with a NAS drive or as already stated using Dropbox etc. Be aware that any customisations you make to FH on the laptop will need to be made to the desktop too. Also ensure that the FH project is only open on one or other of the computers not both...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks
I've been stumped by the fact that free wordpress doesn't enable scripting or plugins :-( as I can't afford to pay for the full version. I'd love the facility to have one big tree and then 3-generation trees on individual/family pages :-) . Do you mean a free wordpress.com site? If you have your ow...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks
Was that use of your trees embedded in the FH generated web pages as discussed here, or some other website design? Mike As I said when I originally posted about this and the code I offered to share is that this is my experience with my Wordpress plugin. For me the FH fixed web display leaves much t...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks
Mike All I can say is that it was a criticism that I got from the early version of my plugin and as a result I changed to a vertical tree layout. As more and more website visitors use tablets and phones, particularly those who are not researchers who we share our data with, they are more used to ver...

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks
I would suggest that you reconsider the type of display. If you have a large number of children the left right scroll becomes an issue particularly on small screened devices. This is why I created the tree as I did in Gedshow.

Re: Website Tree Diagrams with Hyperlinks
Mike & Helen Is this the sort of tree you are talking about? gedshow.png This is an example from my Wordpress plugin. The code is in php but the display is standard CSS. If it would help I can email a copy of both bits of code if you want to use that as a starter. The CSS copes with up to 20 children

One way would be to do a csv export using a query from each tree and then combine the CSV's in Excel or similar.

Re: Discontinuing support for IE
A lot of people do use the external browser rather than the in-built one (personally I prefer working this way). You can continue to use FH v6 in this way. Should you upgrade to V7 then this has Edge as its internal browser if you want to go back to that way of working. AFAIK there is no way to chan...

Re: Printing diagrams FHV6 using Crossover 19.0.2
This is a common issue with programs from developers who aren't prepared to pay Apple a premium to certify their applications. Rather than cover how to overcome this here a quick Google search will tell you how to overcome it. This is an example and is from Apple https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-...

Re: New laptop and fh7
You can just download V7 from Calico Pie and put in your V7 registration details. If the old laptop is no longer in use you can reclaim that licence. FH licence terms allow you to have it on 2 computers BUT only to use one at a time.

You could also look at using Ancestral Sources which has the ability to save some elements of the last entered record for the next one.

Re: Family Historian under Wine
I run FH V7 on a Mac. I have it on an old MacBook Air running Crossover v21. Whilst Crossover is based on Wine it runs fine with a few caveats around Rich Text and tables. I never could get it to run successfully under native Wine. On my main iMac I use a Windows 10 VM to run FH v7. I have also run ...

@Mikes advice is spot on. Upgrading Crossover to v21 is also worthwhile as it uses an updated version of Wine.

One way to do this would be to OCR it and create a CSV file from the OCR in the correct format and then use the CSV import plugin https://pluginstore.family-historian.co ... v-importer

Rich Text is handled slightly better. In-built to FH web browser (Edge) still not working. Worth upgrading imho.

Crossover v21.0.0 released
I have been beta testing Crossover v21.0.0 for the last couple of weeks on my Mac. I have found no new issues with regard to FH and AS. I have been unable to get the internal Edge browser to work though which was the same with v20. This release uses Wine 6.0. It has been released today for Mac, Linu...
