Why oh Why oh Why.......

....did I not look closer at AS about 5 weeks ago when I started adding serious amounts of information to my tree from census records. It is soooooo much easier than repeatedly entering data directly to FH records. The question now is do I continue as is and use AS only for the 1911 records, or do I...

Bulk Update??

Jane

I can see that @S7@ translates in to my source Census 1851 (I changed one record to see what would happen).

Can I assume (before I go too far!) that S = source and 7 = record id and that @S6@ would equate to my 1841 census, etc. etc.

Presumably the @ is just part of the syntax.

Bulk Update??

For some months now, I have been recording 'residence' and attributing it to the contents of the census info I have found. I now want to change my mind and record such 'residence' as a census indicator. Is it possible to run a database wide script to say something along the lines of '… if residence ...

Re: FH4 v Reunion for Mac

Like rclrocco, I'd had enough of anti virus, blue screens and other Windows irritations - so went and bought a mac. Imagine my disappointment when I found that FH wouldn't work. I looked at Reunion but it is very American, so I bought myself a netbook just to run FH4. And it's the best decision I ma...

I'm being a bit thick I'm afraid!

Thanks Jane and everyone else for their responses.

I've had a couple of emails from Calico this morning with licence keys and an idiots guide to installation.

I will try it when I get home tonight - can't wait [smile]

I'm being a bit thick I'm afraid!

Thanks Helen

As I have no CDs, no V3 licence key and an invalid V4 licence key, not to mention no cd drive in the netbook, I'm left wondering if I have to re purchase from scratch. Doesn't seem right though, does it

I'm being a bit thick I'm afraid!

Can anyone else offer assistance?

It seems that I once had a V3 install (bought from the web)

Then a V4 upgrade, again bought on line.

Trying to re install V4 on a different machine seems beyond me [confused]

I'm being a bit thick I'm afraid!

Thanks John

It is V4 on the PC,which was a full install.

All I want to do is re install on my netbook, which runs XP.

I've had a look at your link, but can't see how it helps.

Sorry if I'm still being really thick

Can I be a bit thick as well? I've decided to move FH4 from my PC to a netbook. What is the best way of doing this? I thought just reinstall FH4 from the download site and add my key but it doesn't like it. Similarly, copying the whole .exe from the PC just gives rise to the message 'error in instal...

Web site creator (and hello from a newbie)

Good afternoon all - after 3 years of using FH, I finally stumble upon this site. Oh, if only I'd known earlier. Anyway, I have recently upgraded to FH 4 and am now the proud owner of a web site with all the history available to the world. I have used the wizard, and it's great, and once I'd worked ...
