Re: FH7 Looks?
Please calm down folks. There is no need to make false assumptions and get hung up about release dates. FH7 will be ready when it is ready, not before. It is not prudent for developers to release much detail about future improvements as doing so would put them at a commercial disadvantage. Calico Pi...

Re: Short dates and place name for Gedcom export to Family Tree DNA
I have been requesting for years that FTDNA accept baptism and burial dates and places in their family trees but it is falling on deaf ears. There is a big downside to periodically uploading a GEDCOM to replace an existing FTDNA family tree. The links are lost that the FTDNA algorithim uses to assig...

Re: FH7 Looks?
Under the loose heading of Looks, for me the biggest improvement to FH7 will be the ability to vertical scroll the property box. For those using laptops that have a restricted screen height, the children area at the bottom of the property box is often out of sight. Undocking and moving the property ...

Re: Sources and Citations
I too rely on images of records linked to the people concerned as my 'sources and citatations'. I see no point being a slave to spending hours transcribing those images or recording where I found them. The world has changed since pre-internet. I have the images, so all I need to do is to view them t...

You can still upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 for free. Just follow these instructions. I have upgraded several installations during the last year with no problems.

Re: Project deletion issue
The (1) indicates that at some point the folder was copied and the (1) is the copy. That is why they contain very similar data. The timestamp is clearly wrong as you say, possibly indicating that the copy was made when your computer clock was temporarily out of sync.

Re: Some days you just can't make a farthing, disk crash
In addition to using Dropbox for automatic backups of all of my data, including all historical versions for the last decade, and more copies of my data on other cloud services, I use ARQ Backup. My ARQ is set to automatically copy the whole of my Drive C to Dropbox on the fly, including the registry...

My solution is to display the Records Window fullscreen, scroll vertically until the record required is visible in the first row at the top, then scroll horizontally. Quick easy effective.

Re: getting started
There were several programs named "Family Tree", but only one named "Family Tree Maker" which is currently owned by Software MacKiev. As you now have Family Historian, a much better program, I recommend that you take the time to learn how to import your trees from FTM to FH. Once you understand the ...

We attended RootsTech London for all three days for £49.50 entrance. Good Airbnb nearby with free parking outside the door, tea, coffee, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge, hairdrier, wifi, lift etc for under £240 for the three nights. Travelled to RootsTech on the DLR for £1.70 each trip. ExCel was...

Re: Windows Virtual Desktop
That is why I suggested a decade or more away. Make it a couple of decades or more away for mobile and universal coverage. But the eventual speed of rollout of FTTP and 5G may surprise us. Re: Flagging a DNA Match?
I have created a flag "DNA proven relative" which in diagrams switches on an orange border for the boxes of the people concerned. I assign this flag to the relative in question and to the people in the paths back to our common ancestral couple. I can therefore see at a glance which lines have been p...
