Re: FH and Cloudbooks
I am playing devil's advocate - exploring what might be possible. Just discussing - that's all. Regarding data in the cloud, I was thinking of Dropbox SmartSync where the data resides in the cloud and is only downloaded when needed. Agree that the data really needs to be on the device, so using a SD...

Re: FH and Cloudbooks
Thanks Mike. It should be possible to connect a decent sized screen. "At least 100Mb of hard disk space is required to store the program and accompanying files". So I would imagine that there should be enough room for FH and AS after the space that Windows 10 has occupied. The idea of Cloudbooks is ...

Create a Custom Diagram to preserve your expressions and icons customisations in case you need to restore them at some point.

Re: Select Diagram Root
Many thanks Lorna. Like you one of the first things I did in v7 was to select that option. Then when I went to find it again I skipped "Enable One-Click Diagram Display from Toolbar" because that title did not immediately ring a bell.

Select Diagram Root
I have forgotten how to bypass the Select Diagram Root dialogue. In other words I like to select the root of a new diagram by selecting the individual in an existing diagram.

Re: Attaching Sources
For over 18 years using FH, all of my Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Banns, Death, Burial and Census etc images are linked to the Individuals concerned. The images are my sources. Works fine and is simple and fast to implement. Icons in my diagrams denote which images I have and and have not found for ea...

Re: FH7 and Record Flags
My flags and icons are unaffected. But, Ancestral Sources v7 no longer supports flags. I only use AS for census entry. As a result I have changed all of my census flags to census expressions. That works fine, but in the case of the Canadian 1911 census etc I end up with two "11" icons. I have not fo...

Re: How Can I 'Flag' Something That I Can Easily See in Focus View?
I would suggest using "Has Flag" in Queries. Fast and effective to display a list of people that have been assigned a particular flag.

Re: Change from Flags to Expressions for Diagram Icons
Mike, It looks like your =ContainsText(%INDI.CENS[year=1911].PLAC%,"Canada") is picking up the "Canada" from "Calgary, Alberta, Canada" census place that Ancestral Sources creates alongside the date for that census "1 June 1911". I would like the expression to pick up the "Canada" from my Source Rec...

Re: Change from Flags to Expressions for Diagram Icons
Thanks Mike. =ContainsText(%INDI.CENS[year=1911].PLAC%,"Canada") does work but as the %INDI.CENS[year=1911]% expression is already in place I end up with two "11" icons. To answer your question, I have not used any expressions until the last couple of days. This is the first time I have tried to use...

I am also Changing from Flags to Expressions for Diagram Icons.
%INDI.CENS[year=1911]% works just fine for my source and flag named "1911 Census".
What expression would I need for my source and flag named "1911 Canada Census" please?

Re: A visual marker for a 'provisional' relative
I use the In Progress flag for any person that is not absolutely proven to belong to a tree. The In Progress flag box is customised to show a heavy dotted outline, and the men at work icon clearly indicates work in progress. Use the Has Flag query to create a table of people that are in progress.

Census Method 2 - Link images to entries
In AS Options - Census Method 2 - Link images to entries, I would like to request an additional option for "Link to individuals" please. Ethnicity predictions and estimates are just that. Some people may receive results that match their expectations - others may not. This science is stiil evolving as more reference populations are added to the databases and the algorithms improve. We are not there yet. https://dna-explained.com/2018/...

I sometimes like the Ahnentafel numbers for each person to display in diagrams.
The method is Diagram Options > Text tab > Edit... . Ahnentafel Number - Calculated is listed in Available Items in the left pane.

Re: Ancestry Changes
The consensus of several blog posts by experts is that around 50% of 6 and 7cM matches are false positives, which means that around 50% are postive positives. The same blog posts calculate that on average we will lose around 50-60% of our AncestryDNA match lists. Speculation is that the real reason ...
