Adoption by New Husband
Thanks Anne. It does seem to be this.
(It turned out to be a fair bit more complicated than a straight adoption though, but i don't feel comfortable posting the details on an open forum)

Actually that last post is a bit too cryptic and therefore looks a little odd
What i can say is that person in question is my niece and the mother is my 'estranged' sister

Adoption by New Husband
I met the 1979 person in 1987 and i'm 100% sure i would of heard if they had died. Also no record (it's a unique name) of a death in the bdm's. Additionally i think i've found them on facebook, but due to the delicacy of the situation (which i can't expand on on a public forum unfortunately) i can't...

I have someone who was born in Q3 1979, but then their birth r...

Where to go when you can't find it
Hi Margaret,
Thanks for the info. No sign of a time of birth. Am thinking now that the 'triplets' story was just a red herring
Thanks
Tony

Show All Names in Records Window
I'd like the option for 'individuals' record list (or a seperate tab) to show all names for an individual please i.e. if the individual is a married female she'd appear at least twice. Once under her maiden name and again under each of her married names. Also the indivdual should be listed again for...

Where to go when you can't find it
Just a bit of closure on this I recently decided to get a find my past subscription and have managed to find Hannah Cox in the 1881 census (not sure why i didn't find her on ancestry) Seems she was living with her great uncle George Townsend and it turns out she had a brother (a year older) called G...

Hi Jane,
Just been thru the faq for genelines and found i had to edit the categories so it showed notes for occupation and place for residence. By default it just used the event type

Why would a BDM record be amended?
Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the reply
The child was born about 1967/8 (gro entry is in Q1 1969). I know the child was born no earlier than 1967 though.
I can see that S might be september, but not sure i understand where 5888 might come into it?
Many thanks
Tony

Why would a BDM record be amended?
Hi all, Was wondering if anyone could shed any light on why a Birth entry in the BDM records might be edited please? The record was originally written as vol 5b and crossed out is page 635 (i think, it's been crossed thru so a bit unclear) and next to it has been written 5888/S (which looks unusual ...

Thanks for the replies I use ancestry and the lds site the most, but also make use of findmypast and fhss etc thegenealogist looks like it _might_ have some additional databases that might be useful to me but to get full access means an annual subscription. I guess i'll probably have to bite the bul...

An option i've used a couple of times with my WM5 mobile phone is to remote desktop to my home pc that is running FH
Only possible if you have a cellular data connection or wifi

I would assume 'transported' meant being sent to prison Australia or another colony
With regards to 'hard labour' it would mean physical labour of some sort. I guess it would depend on the authorities at the prison whether a 60 year old was given 'lighter' duties

I'm not 100% on what the rules are, but i do it and without any user login I only publish the certificate reproduction part, not the whole certificate, though And only for people long dead I also publish the census sheets in full (with hotspots that link back to the relevant web pages, well only 184...
