Date a photo

If it's the family i think it is or very close realtions then the photo would of been taken around Earlstown in Lancashire, which is certainly where the Photgraphic Studio who took it/processed it came from as that is shown on the Surround. The main problem that i have is that the female 2nd from ri...

Date a photo

Have just come across a family photo which i am having trouble dating so i can identify if possible who they might be. If any one could give me a rough date and/or ages they think the people might be.

As far as i can see, the Data contained within the GedCom file is not subject to Copyright, but the way that the data is presented is, so any report diagram website etc is copyrightable (i.e. they cannot make an exact copy of your report but they can take the data from the report and use that themse...

Date Format - U.S. Customary

DateFormat works fine.
If windows set to UK settings and put in date as 2/3/1888 gives 2 MAR 1888 which is correct.
If change windows settings to US and put in exact same date of 2/3/1888 gives 3 FEB 1888 which is correct for US settings. So no problems with FH in recognising correct date formats.

Help finding Parish Records

If you look on genuki for the parish of Trelleck http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON/Trelleck/index.html you will see that there is a link to an online transcription for a lot of parishes in Monmouthshire including Trelleck. And according to Genuki PR for Bedminster are held at Somerset Rcord Office.

Advice sought on emailing diagrams/narratives

Hi Jocelyn, Looking on FH Website under System Requirements, states that FH(v3) will not run under NT4 or earlier versions of NT. I normally take this to mean that it may well run but certain bits may not work as expected and the Software Company will not fix any problems which only appear with an u...

Stripped Down Gedcom/ GR Dates

Following on from comments made by other people i have just written a very basic program which will strip a Gedcom file down to just Birth-Bap/Chr-Death-Burial-Marr Info. i.e just date and place of the event. It will also convert Quarter Dates to the End of quarter so Q1 1888 is changed to JAN 1888....

Census age not copied to occupation attribute

All though i don't use Gedcom Census, can i just add a reason as to why Ages should not be recorded against occupations. If Person is say a Farmer in 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 Census. You would surely only ever have one Occupation Attribute but you cannot have an age as what age would you put there. I....

Data validation and error checking

Have not tried Demo version, but do not get the messages you say you get for thae dates you put in, with the full working version. Check that the date for the birth you have as 1901 not 1918 as that will give the error messages you say. Yes does allow future dates but do not think that is a problem ...

You could always use the extra attributes of the address Attribute. To add these, one way is from Individuals Record Window expand so you can see eg. Birth Details, then expand so you can see address details for the Birth. Then if you right click you get options to add First Indexing Line Second Ind...

you could try looking at http://freecen.rootsweb.com as this does have some of the 1851 for Scotland on. Although it may be a bit hit and miss as not everything is transcribed yet. Query not picking up all events

Julia,
It looks to me as though, you have it defined as a Custom Attribute, whereas you are asking Query to show an Event (Indi.Event) rather than an Attribute (Indi.Attr).

Check that you don't have them defined as both a Custom Attribute and Custom Event.

Prison Officers

Does anyone know if there are records concerning Prison officers i.e date of joining, date of leaving etc.
I have the Pension record for my GGrandfather who was in the Met Police but i cannot find any similar records for his Father who was a Prison Office at Dartmoor Prison, Princetown.
