Re: Problem loading program - missing dll
Downloaded and installed the recommended MS C++ run time libraries software. FH loads now with no problems. Thank you again for your assistance. I am looking at the newest version of FH, but wanted to ensure I have all my data up to date and backed up (on external devices and Dropbox) on the version...

Re: Problem loading program - missing dll
Thanks for the reply and link to possible solutions. Yes to all your questions! I do not understand however, the seemingly random emergence of the problem after successfully using the program after installation of Windows 7. Will try re-installing FH v 5 and report back.

Problem loading program - missing dll
Successfully re-installed FH v 5 after installing Windows 7 Pro on my PC (from XP Pro). Used the program a couple of times with no problems, loading from the shortcut on the desktop. From a day ago the program will not load from the shortcut, or directly from the program folder using Fh.exe. The att...

Re: Missing standard queries in loaded program
I have carefully read the knowledge base articles & diagram on re-installing and found the statement that I only need to use my v4 to 5 upgrade file. I have all my original download files, including paid for and free upgrades, purchase acknowledgents and keys. I intend uninstalling my FH program and...

Re: Missing standard queries in loaded program
"Is your Gedcom file incorporated into a FH Project structure.....?" - Yes to all and I back up to an external hard drive in addition to a folder in Dropbox. Will download the back up plug in when I have sorted out my problem. I tried re-running the v5.0.9 upgrade file with no success. I have contac...

Re: Missing standard queries in loaded program
Will check where files should be and do a reinstall and check to see that it has installed properly. Currently I back up the full file set from the program after making changes to the file being worked on, but presumably this is only the the data directly associated with the Gedcom file - I only hav...

Re: Missing standard queries in loaded program
Update Have looked at the Knowledge Base again and find some worrying instructions. It would appear that my re-install of FH did not work properly as the files seem to be in different places. I looked in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Calico Pie\Family Historian and found sever...

Re: Missing standard queries in loaded program
Thanks for reply, have amended profile as suggested! WIndows XP Pro all latest updates (planning to change to Windows 7 soon, with trepidation!) Same PC as before. Not sure re queries as have not used this item before them from the menu. No folder "Progam Data, but a Calico Pie folder in C:\Program ...

Missing standard queries in loaded program
Version 5.0.9. In the View menu, Standard Queries responds <empty>! There is a queries sub folder in the Family Historian program folder with named queries of 1 & 2 KB with .fhq file type suffix. How do I get these standard queries to load with the program? In the Queries Window there are no queries...

Imported gedcom events problem
Thanks for that - I understand the problem now and I can see the CFTW events in the change any tag plug in under 'custom', which I must have missed before. I will try to use this on a copy first (as suggested) until I get it right and then use it on my main file. Will come back with news of success ...

Imported gedcom events problem
This is text from GedPad of a Gedcom file exported from CFTW and subsequently imported to FH. As you can see the birth event starts at 1, whereas the lived event starts at 2 with an event 'even' at 1. Presumably FH is not picking up the livd event as a fact in the same way it does for the birth even...

Imported gedcom events problem
Thanks for that - however I did view the Gedcom file with GedPad and not knowing what I was viewing, or how to interprete it I did notice that the CFTW fact names giving the problem were not in the same position as ones which transferred satisfactorily, such as bmd events. Having followed the sugges...

Imported gedcom events problem
Thanks for the reply. I did define the sentence as advised, however the program ignores it with reference to the facts with the (now) same name imported form my old software via a gedcom file. I now realise that the facts do re-order after closing and re-opening the file, but not in real time when u...

Imported gedcom events problem
Really grateful for your advice messages and will do as is suggested and put the imported facts in a separate CFTW set. I still have the CFTW program running as I refer to it occasionally and can see if I can copy fact codes and the corresponding sentences which do not appear in the FH standard code...

Thanks for the replies. I will work on a copy of the file and try adding these imported codes as custom facts and check the sentence construction, which from your reply, I may also be able to edit?

Imported gedcom events problem
FH v5. I have used a shareware program called Cumberland Family Tree for Windows (CFTW) for years. I understand it was written to strict Gedcom standards. As it is no longer supported and having wasted time and money on RootsMagic I purchased FH and have been using it succesfully in importing my Ged...

Not sure what the problem is? My tree (not public) on Ancestry.co.uk gives me the option on a 'button' to view 'pedigree' left to right or 'family' drop down.

Griffith's Valuation (Ireland)
For those researching Irish ancestors Griffith's Valuation is a vital source. However most on-line sources (all up to now?) charge for viewing - if they have digitised beyond an index. The following website address takes you to 'Ask About Ireland' http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/ind...
