Many thanks, Mike,
I used the plugin as you suggested and it worked perfectly.
Unfortunately, it took me a while to see your reply - stupid seasonal bugs etc.
Thanks again,
Susan

Updating Place names
Throughout all the decades I have been gathering my data I have always used the place data as Town/Village, County or town/village, County, Country if outside of England. I have now come to the conclusion that it will be much easier managing the data if I was to include England into all the English ...

Re: Problems with Find My Past hints
I finally managed to fix this, I used a different browser and it worked fine, so I went back to Chrome and cleared my browser history and cookies and the problem was gone, strange but there we go!

Problems with Find My Past hints
I have been using these recently with great success however I have tried several times at the beginning of the day and again this evening after work and run in to problems. I have chosen for the hints to lead in an external website rather than with the software however as soon as I open the hint to ...

Re: Given Name or Surname not updating
Hi Terry, I'm assuming when you say you changed it in the focus window are you taking about changing it in the side bar as you can't actually type onto the focus window. Once you had changed the name did you then click out of the box as this is the point that you will see the update made in the focu...

Re: Wish- Automatic Internet Data Matching with Familysearch
I have to agree with this one. I already subscribe to Ancestry and Find My Past already so can't afford to add My Heritage in to the mix. Family search would however be great for a smart match option as it is free, I currently have this smart match option turned off and keep feeling I am missing out.

I have been searching through the historical posts and forgive me if I have missed an answer to this already but I have been working with my place names and addresses doing a bit if housekeeping and have come across situations where a parish is in different registration districts at different times ...

Re: 1939 Register
As suggested I used the census entry with one of the other census years and as usual I had all the pop ups asking if I wish to make the changes. I have opened and closed AS independently of FH as suggested by Brian but unfortunately this didn't resolve anything. However I cracked it with option 4 on...

Re: 1939 Register
I have followed the instructions above and imported the 1939 template, I'm not sure what I may have done wrong but all the elements seem to be working as with the other census years and the correct census style facts are being entered into Family Historian however where information such as date of b...

Hi, Firstly I would like to say thank you so much for Ancestral Sources it is a fantastic tool for powerhouse entering of data. Back up warning
I thought I would just post a message on here so everyone can learn from my experience. I save my tree every time I make an alteration and have done weekly backups (I know I will be doing this daily now...) However I was entering a census via Ancestral Sources and for some reason it produced an exce...

Alternative Names
I hope I am not being blind and missing the obvious but.... when you add an alternative name to the more+ box I can't seem to find where to source this information. For instance if a person turns out to have two Christian names and one is used in most census and the other is suddenly used in one odd...

Show Project Statistics - Unusual entry
Hi I have an unusual entry and I'm unsure what it means. In a persons Individual Facts I have an entry stating adoption with the year and a note that she was adopted by her (birth) uncle's family. I have her linked to both her birth mother and adopted parents. The plug in is showing her record as an...

Problems with a Free BMD query
I have been trying to set up a simple query as follows: Add if %INDI.BIRT[1].DATE% was later than 1837 Exclude if %INDI.BIRT[1].DATE% was later than 1915 Add if %INDI.BIRT[1].SOUR[1]>% is null So in theory anyone born after 1837 but before 1915 without a source for their birth should show however wh...

Look up BMD events
Apologies if this already exists and I can't find it for looking but - I really love the look up census facts plug in and wondered if there was something similar for BMD events using Ancestry or similar.
Thanks

I use this plug in pretty much daily (thanks Jane Taubman [smile]) but with each entry I then go to the source to add in secondary source and today's date I was wondering how complicated it may be to edit the plug in to automatically do this for me as when I am on a roll and find lots of info at onc...

Breadth of research
This is just a question of curiosity really. I am aware that some people prefer to do a minimal paternal linear research whilst others like me tend to fan out in all directions. My question is how far do people tend to branch away from people that are related to them. I have lots of family in Cornwa...

I have watched Jane's You Tube video showing how to do this and have now set up the main viewing panel in the colours of my choice and also the source and spouse tabs of the property box for some reason though I can't seem to find a control anywhere to alter the top section of the control panel so I...

By looking at the copied expression I managed to sort it out, I had an extra space between the speech mark and the word birth and the same with the others. It's amazing what trouble a little bit of nothing can cause [lol]

Here is the expression: =GetLabelledText(%FACT.NOTE2%,' Birth:') The others are identical just swap the word Birth: for the other events. It looks exactly like it should unless I am missing something. More than likely one of those obvious little things but I'm blowed if I can think of what it may be...
