Re: Working with source citation copies
... I might add that, like most people, I'm not exclusively wedded to this method - when citing Wikipedia for background info, I have one Source-Record only for Wikipedia, not one per Wikipedia article, with the article title and URL, etc, in the yellow source pane. Ditto here. I have a very generi...

Icons hang from exit, not the bottom
I love using Diagram Icons to provide visual clues to help fill in blanks where I don't have something but data *is* available. Census information is a prime example. A well documented individual will appear in many censuses in their lifetime. (Providing they were born in an era of good record keepi...

Re: Select Record Dialogue Focus
Thank you. I've done that.
I was not separating between issues from prior to 6.1.2 and 6.1.2.
(And I was just thinking "As long as they're in the code at the moment, would they consider a little tweak in the code to achieve x if they think it's attention worthy?")

Re: Select Record Dialogue Focus
The initial use of a Tab key once the Select Records window opens to Add Individuals as witnesses, moves me from the button in the middle labeled "Add to Selection" to "Add All" to "Remove from Selection" to "Remove All" then "OK" then "Add using Query..." to "Remove using Query" to "OK" again, "Can...

Select Record Dialogue Focus
Focus. I think that's the term when your mouse cursor automatically jumps to a field which you can populate when you open a window. I'm going to use a Witness window. I know exactly who I want to add. This guy's daughter whom he so lovingly resolved to take care of in his will. Add. Add Individual. ...

Places vs Addresses
Probably a limitation of the GedCom standard. Philadelphia, PA, is a large city. And if I want to be really detailed, I can (and have) geocode Philadelphia, PA, with latitude and longitude. 39°57′N 75°10′W per Wikipedia. And that will represent something somewhere within its 134 square miles. GGGgra...

Re: Labels & Label Values or Notes - what is good gedcom
The only Fact I would like to see this happen for is the Attribute Fact "Event (Attr)" and converting them so that they are the same as the otherwise gedcom legal Event Fact "Event". Cond: Exclude unless... Expr: =FactLabel(%FACT%) Oper: matches Valu: Event (Attr) These Event (Attr) amount to 1,225 ...

Re: Labels & Label Values or Notes - what is good gedcom
"Alternatively, move every Attribute Value into its Note field, then the Plugin will never encounter a problem." That's the trick. It seems I'd have to go through my database record by record catching these all. I have a read-only list of them via Query. Using the Result Set doesn't allow me to cut ...

Re: Labels & Label Values or Notes - what is good gedcom
Found it. I was warned about keeping the same name for both an Event and an Attribute, but did it anyway. I'll be keeping the Event (Attr) (the value I gave the label) hidden so it won't appear anymore. And I've fixed the sentence so these Events will read like I want them to as well. I do see I hav...

Re: Labels & Label Values or Notes - what is good gedcom
My current Event fact reads just like I want it too. {individual} {note}< {date}><, {place}><, {age}>. (Tools, Fact Types, selecting Event, Event, Custom, and Edit.) All these outliers are legacy Events. And they are not reading like I want them too. I believe I only have the ability to edit the cur...

Re: Labels & Label Values or Notes - what is good gedcom
I am using 6.1. I don't think it's FTM since I never used it long enough to do enough genealogy with it to warrant an export back out of it. TMG, RootsMagic, and Legacy, I did. I am using Event as an Event, not an Attribute. EVEN {EVENT}: = A noteworthy happening related to an individual, a group, o...

Labels & Label Values or Notes - what is good gedcom
I have a Fact I call "Event". Name: Event Label: Event Fact Set: Custom Old Versions... No old versions found I use it so I can record something taking place somewhere on a date. {individual} {note}< {date}><, {place}><, {age}>. It produces a sentence that looks like "He purchased, with his brother ...

FH Estimated Age when no Birth Date
I have two individuals, husband and wife. I have his baptism date, but I haven't found her birth or baptism record yet and have provided a circa date. Adriaen Schamp, Bapt'd: 26 Dec 1749 Rebecca Huff, Born: c. 1753 In the Focus Window Married block, I also have a circa date. circa 1769 and the helpf...

"Then in the Result Set select all the UDF Item column and hit the Delete key." That's worth repeating. The Result set will display the record, not just the offending UDF data, with several columns. That record with icon will appear in a middle (2nd) column as an individual, source, repository, or f...

Re: Change Any Fact, but with a bit more info
And done.
I've got a manageable list of 231 UDFs, all in either a custom address field, or a repository note. Something I can fix by hand over time.
Otherwise with your suggestings, 330K UDFs removed and my Christenings now properly Baptisms via this plugin.
Thanks!

Re: Change Any Fact, but with a bit more info
It's the pre-import Source Records that are creating the UDFs.
A new source won't create them. No UDFs, the text is all blue.
Red Text is source, and Blue Text is individual, in the All screen?

Re: Change Any Fact, but with a bit more info
Mike, I'll run a test tonight (Chesapeake time) and let you know. (I'll create a new individual, cite a more recent source, and screenshot the All screen (where the UDFs typically appear). I'll look at a/the source record as well. I've seen red text, and blue, in my sources in various views of them....

Re: Change Any Fact, but with a bit more info
Once I did a test import of my gedcom and saw all the new features in FH6, and, more importantly, all the media came through, and linked, (and properly filed in the various media subfolders I had), I didn't pursue further nuances of the import. (So, yes, I probably ignored those warnings, because it...

Re: Change Any Fact, but with a bit more info
The All Empty Facts query resulted in finding 17K empty Death facts. It would appear some software in the past added a blank Death record for every record where I didn't have one. There were also many empty Marriage facts, but those establish the link, so fine there. I deleted all the top level UDFs...

Thank you. I will try just that. (This database has been in and out of several programs. Started in TMGW, moved to FH5, Legacy, RootsMagic, and now FH6. It will have picked up some rough edges. FSFTID is Family Search Family Tree Id, so something, I believe, added by RootsMagic maybe as it synched m...

Re: Change Any Fact, but with a bit more info
Change Any Fact Tag 2.7 found three UDF tags: _COLOR _FSFTID _UID Under Individual Records. (None seemed Baptism related, per se, but I understand this kind of data in an Event where not expected would cause an issue.) Without knowing the implication, I opted to not Delete every _x UDF Tag however. ...
