Re: Diagram saved options
It would appear (from another post regarding Custom diagram presets - which I have replied to) that FH no longer picks up default diagram options as the default for new diagrams - they have to be saved as a new custom chart type - why? ALways worked OK in previous FH versions?! I now have to go thro...

Re: Custom Diagram Box Presets
Sounds like this is also why I have now got to recreate my diagram boxes/icons/flags for each chart type and save as new chart.
Never had to do this on v6?
The new default diagram options, despite being saved, never appear to be used as defaults - so what is their point?

Re: Diagram saved options
Profile: Done Upgraded to v7.0.8.2, on same PC as previous v6. Not sure if I've even played much with v7 since purchase to have even notice any prior issues with diagrams. AS is v7.2.7 - but when I check flag assignments, some boxes are greyed out and don't allow me to edit. See incorrect country in...

Diagram saved options
It's been a while since I did some research, but I am up-to-date with FH version (7.0.8.2). My diagrams are not opening with my desired saved options (which include record flag icons etc.) - how do I get this to work? Also - how do I edit my configured record flags (some are revealed in Ancestral So...

Reinstall after new PC = painful!
In a similar vain to 'Reinstall after catastrophe', I have recently upgraded my PC, and moved to Win 8.1 (x64). Installing FH6 was fine; despite being an upgrade version, it recognised my v5 key, and (bar my misreading a zero for an O) I entered my v6 key and installed fine. My previous PC is still ...

Think I've just found the reason for not carrying the 'from' field over in the response to the Deportation post!

Immigration, Emigration or Travel?
Hi folks I have a relative who was an Assistant Steward on steamships in the early to mid 1900s. At present I have recorded his arrival at New York as 'Immigration', because the fact set also includes a 'from' field, eg. Immigrated to New York from Havana, Cuba. I have tried creating a new 'Tr...

Using Occupation in diagram boxes
Thanks for the prompt reply as ever, Jane. I've created the Custom Fact (my first!), yet the Text if 'No Data' just literally displays '%INDI.OCCU[1]%', not the value. Am I being stupid? I can't believe FH is so customisable - I know there is so much under the hood, yet have little time to play! Sou...

Using Occupation in diagram boxes
I would like to use a 'general' occupation for individuals, within diagram boxes, yet the Edit Text Scheme only allows All, First or Last. There is a field called 'Occupation' in each individual's property window, which I assume can be used to over-ride other Occupations. How is this referenced? Can...

Trellis Charts
Just found this: http://progenygenealogy.com/products/family-tree-charts/trellis.aspx Any thoughts for adding these in the future? Don't think Progeny 'invented' them, sure I've seen them provided by someone else before. Confusingly they use M & F for Mother and Father, not Male and Female (caught m...

V5 removed all image links pre-1911!
Thanks for the help, guys.
Think I've successfully managed a merge & compare now.
Multimedia data appears to be back...
Will keep my eye on things.
Cheers.

V5 removed all image links pre-1911!
Done. Sorted by Record ID. IDs 2 to 206 are missing; they run 1, then 207 through to 909. I have an old backup with appears to have a GEDCOM which contains Object IDs 2 to 206. Is it safe to copy & paste these sections into my current GEDCOM? I guess I'd still have to compare the two files & inserts...

OK. Clarification. It now appears there are some pre-1911 census sources with multimedia records, but MANY without them now. I am rigorous in attaching census images (especially as GEDCOM Census and Ancestral Sources both reminded us!). Most @O...@ references and definitions have just plain disappea...

Oh, bother!
It actually looks, having checked again, that the file paths are no longer in the GEDCOM - is this an error with AS saving.
Does this mean I'm going to have to relink ALL pictures??!!

V5 removed all image links pre-1911!
Nick The point is, NOTHING shows in the multimedia box for the census entry source for any entry other than 1911. I add again, they used to be there, showing as a multimedia file against the census source. However, since v5 (I think - only discovered this yesterday!!) the multimedia references are n...

V5 removed all image links pre-1911!
Hi I have just noticed that my v5(.05) no longer has the multimedia links to any census pre-1911! The census flags are fine, and the data too. But there are no longer any pics of the censuses! I don't think it's an Ancestral Sources v3 issue, since I used it quite a while before u/g to FH v5. A quic...

'File has changed' notification issue
After saving the GEDCOM from within Ancestral Sources 3, then switching to FH, you only get notification that the file has changed if you minimise FH (!) Other than this, the file is updated correctly. Maybe a file change should bring FH (and its notification message in particular) back into focus ....

I tend to do the same Anne. I did not realise how popular BALDOCK was in Kent until I started two years ago! I agree with the caveat on duplicates. By using Notes fields, I can jog my memory regarding possible links to investigate in the future. I now find myself adding people from the 14th -17th ce...

I had considered using Family Atlas in the past, but appearing to be an American program, I was not sure about it's coverage & handling of UK places.
