Vista amp; Ancestry

It will not enable me to save the page/file to any other area except the virtual file.
Then it will not move to desktop or flash drive.
Is there anyone with vista who can give me detailed instructions ?
I suspect security has something to do with it.

Thank you Jon & Treefrog for your replies. Jon - I have looked at the links, I am not computer literate enough to much sense ot it. Treefrog - I have done as you suggested but cannot make it work. When I do paste /copy it tells me the file is not there. In Jon's link it does say that paste /copy is ...

Vista amp; Ancestry

Thanks for your reply. I am not trying to save the page to family Historian but to another file so that I can email it to a friend. There is no size given to the virtual file which is perhaps why I get 'Invalid File' when trying to attach it to an email. I have tried to copy it from the virtual file...

Yet when I tried to email it to a frie...

Using Lists

Nick Many thanks for that, both versions worked just fine. I thought I should be able to do this. Jane - Apologies to you as you also suggested the Control+C method, but as that came up on the Edit menu against Copy and Control V against Paste, I just continued to try that and did not think of tryin...

Using Lists

Jane said: The only way I could get the note greyed out was not to select the person on the TO list after I switched to the TO list. It is not the note section that is greyed out. It is the Edit/ Paste option. It will not let me do the paste bit. Very frustrating, but never mind I shall just have t...

Using Lists

Jane
Sorry but this is what I have tried to do, but the paste option is greyed out.
It seems to be a straight forward copy & paste procedure, but I cannot get it to work.

Using Lists

Jane
That is what I tried to do.
Highlighted the note.
Edit, Copy as text.
Went to the new list
Highlighted the person.
Clicked on to the note section
Edit Paste - but the paste is greyed out
I must have missed something simple - but what ?
Sorry to be a pain !

Using Lists

I have a list named 'To do at Kew' with various people + items that I wish to research about them. It works fine. I now wish to move one of these people + all the notes I have made about the research to another list such as 'Work in progress'. Do I have to type all the info again in the new list or ...

Online sources of English and Welsh BMD amp; Cens

Try using Monmouth* which will pick up Monmouth and Monmouthshire.
I do this regularly
York* finds Yorks and Yorkshire.
Similarly Fred* gets Fred, Freddie, Frederic, Frederick etc.
Remember the index reflects what was written (or what the transciber thought was written).

Help finding Parish Records

Helen I'm not sure what you mean but if the LDS have filmed the parish info you want then you can order the film /fiche. They have filmed far more than is available on the IGI. The basic details of baptisms  & marriages feature on the IGI but burial registers, cemetery records etc in some cases have...

Help finding Parish Records

I regularly use my local LDS center in order to view P.Records + other data. It costs about £2.70 for a month (though you can have longer) and the films come usually in 2/3 weeks. Check out the Family History Library Catalogue on Fam Search Web site. Enter into 'Place' name of town /parish in which ...
