Re: Family Historian 7 and TNG 12.1
I've looked into both your suggestions now and realised I tried both when I was first learning to create the php pages. Converting Word to html creates a lot of its own html code which is useless for creating php pages and very confusing when it comes to editing them. I had to learn to use TNG's his...

Re: Family Historian 7 and TNG 12.1
The 'save as a webpage' option doesn't work very well for me. It messes about with the formatting, moves the pictures and their captions and seems to overwrite some lines twice. I've added a snapshot (I hope) of part of the page to explain what I mean. I didn't know it could be embedded as html for ...

Family Historian 7 and TNG 12.1
I have been using FH as my main database for my family research for years and I am now trying trying to tidy up the notes and various media files, with a view to updating my TNG website mainly with updated histories of some of my ancestors. I tend to create these 'histories' - mini life stories - in...

Re: About to upgrade to FH7
Yes thank you, I've read that. A quick test of the queries didn't bring up any errors on the Sample file. One or two of the custom facts appear to be missing - these were attributes, not events, but other attributes I added are there. It's not a huge problem as the missing attributes were only linke...

Re: About to upgrade to FH7
Well! That went so smoothly I can hardly believe it. :D :D :D Still looking at the sample project for now but I can see the upgrade has brought across my customised diagrams and icons which is where I have caused myself problems in the past and so far it is all looking good. All my custom queries an...

Re: About to upgrade to FH7
I know - I'm sure the problem is with me. probably too keen to get it installed and not doing the preparation as well as I ought - hence spending a lot of time preparing this time and hopefully not missing anything. Does it look to you as though I have everything covered please?
Thank you,
Sharon

I am just about to upgrade to v7 from v6.2.7. I have had awful problems in the apst when I have upgraded FH, so I have been reading all the help I can find to make sure I have backed up everything I need to to make sure I don’t lose any data, I can get the new version installed as smoothly as possib...

Re: Batch updates to Date of Death?
I've been looking at all the replies since I last logged on, and to the thread highlighted by capnkeith (which I found a little confusing though) It looks like I'm not the only one with this problem: namely to uplaod a gedcom with all details, so that those with access rights to see Living people ca...

Re: Batch updates to Date of Death?
Hi tatewise, I have spent most of the day working through the processes for 'Exporting to Website without Sensitive data' - mostly trying different scenarios in terms of Living/Dead flags and having n/k, (or not), in the Death Date field. The results look good, but it has just ocurred to me that a f...

Re: Batch updates to Date of Death?
Yes I used the Export Gedcom file plugin and followed the steps in the Knowledge for TNG and Import details. I didn't use the Export without Sensitive Data section as that appears to be removing living or private people, and I want there to be at least a box in TNG to show someone exists. Consequent...

Re: Batch updates to Date of Death?
Thank you Tatewise. The reason I want to put n/k in date of death is because it is clear to me that an indivual must have died based on other information/dates I have available, but I don't know the death date, and in a lot of cases don't have a birth date either. I hoping in this way I can then tid...

Batch updates to Date of Death?
I'm looking for some means - possible a plug-in or maybe a query - to change 'Date of Death', where it currently contains the word 'circa' plus a year to contain only the phrase 'n/k' . I tried the Search and Replace plugin, but it will only replace the actual word 'circa' and leaves the year untouc...

Re: Re-install v6 after computer crash
Thank you for your help Jane. I had seen the Knowledge Base page you gave me the link to but I was confused by the reference to v4/5 (which I stupidly thought was a version in itself). Thank you for clarifying this for me. I have read the page carefully and followed some of the links which seem to a...

Re-install v6 after computer crash
Hi there. Two days ago my laptop crashed big-time and I could only get it up and running again after doing a reset. This essentially re-installed Windows (version 10), keeping all my personal data, but removing all applications. All my Family History files, folders etc look fine, but I would appreci...

Re: Upgrading to FHv6
Once again tatewise, thank you very much. I have renamed my folders and gone through the steps you describe below, and hopefully I am now more 'standard' in the way I am set up. I do have some long media names so that I can see in an instance who the record relates to, date, what it is etc, but in t...

Re: Upgrading to FHv6
FWIW, early on, until I became familiar with FH's project structure, I did accidentally create a project 'folder within folder' a couple times which needless to say was confusing, with all files duplicated. The actual FH gedcom is a bit nested (e.g.- -DriveLetter:\Family Historian Projects\FH03\FH0...
