Show adult as guardian
I have a child Phoebe and her guardian was William. Her parents had died, so he was effectively her father. I can see that I can specify the relationship as adopted, etc. But there is no code for a guardian. There is even an option for more options and a relationship code, but is it possible to add ...

Correct expression for husband's estimated death date
Hi I have a photograph which was taken between 1906 and 1914 judging by the fashions and depicts a widow. So I am looking for an expression for a husband's estimated death date, I have tried this: =EstimatedDeathDate(%INDI.FAMS>HUSB%,LATEST,2) but it gives me an error message, "The expression entere...

Re: Custom Query - Include parameter in sub title
Many thanks. Both individual and name now work.
On my first attempt individual didn't work, so I tried name and that worked, so then I tried individual again and that then worked!

Custom Query - Include parameter in sub title
Hi
I've seen this post Custom queries (6716)
and tried this as a custom subtitle
=Individual(['QueryRoot'])
The query works well, but when I look at print preview the subtitle is just the text of the function.
Any ideas as to what may be wrong?

Re: Ancestor Breakdown Report
Thank you.
I had forgotten all about Plugins. A sign of old age I fear.
I had modified Jane's Ancestor Counts by Generations to give the additional columns.
I'm now able to reproduce the report.

Ancestor Breakdown Report
I've come across a printed report I made in January 2017 entitlwes "Ancestor Breakdown for..." It lists the starting person as generation 1. The next line is Gen 2 - parents, followed by gen 3 Grandparents, etc up to gen 14 (in this case) The following information is also shown on each line, the pos...

Re: String function to get initials
Thank you for the prompt reply. I have created a generalised query. My apologies for not replying sooner to your advice: I wanted to construct a list for a visit to a particular library and managed to get something close enough and then forgot all about my question. I have this evening compiled a de...

String function to get initials
I would like to write a custom query to be able to find a Miss F H Smith amongst my records. Is there a function which will give me the first letter of the First name and the first letter of the middle name? If there were more than two initials I would need to find a space in middle name and then ta...

Re: Used Split Tree Helper and Project File size has not cha
Many thanks. The plug in removed 746 files, I also removed 1398 places. This reduced the project from 1.12GB to 260MB. Having looked in this forum I then deleted unwanted files in the public folder (which was all of them). I also deleted some .ged files which had the wrong prefix from the fh_data fo...

Re: Used Split Tree Helper and Project File size has not cha
Thank you. The Media records have shrunk from over 20 pages to about one and a quarter pages. They all start Media\ so I assume they are internal references. None of the files have been deleted. I see the wording is "Delete Multimedia records with no links to them." So in each case FH has deleted th...

Used Split Tree Helper and Project File size has not changed
I have used the split tree helper and my file has shrunk from 3008 individuals and 1004 families to 61 individuals and 22 families. However when I look at the size of the project folder it has only shrunk from 1.2109GB to 1.2107 GB . The number of files has grown from 843 to 844 so there are many fi...

Custom queries - ability to select only if complete word
I have a custom query which looks for clergy in the occupation field. A typical line is Add if "occupation" contains 'Rector' This also adds people with occupations such as a Director. I would like to be able to only add if the complete word is 'rector' I imagine a tick box alongside "Match case" la...

Help with Maps
I thought I would like to create a map showing the places I visited in Israel on holiday, which I realise is not what FH is intended for, but it will hopefully help me to understand maps in FH. I created a character called John Smith and entered 25 residences. When I create a map, all of them have a...

Remove blank row from chart
I have a chart with the option boundary lines set to row boundaries. There is a row which is empty of any people, there are two vertical lines passing through the row. I cannot find a way to get rid of this row and so increase the scale to get a more readable tree on a single sheet.

Simplified Graphical Display for How Related Tool
The How Related Tool has a button for "Display Graphically" This displays many relatives 9 by including siblings of those on the direct connection: on one example for 5th cousins it stretched to 18 pages. One can then go through and hide all those who are not connected by a red line. This reduced th...

Custom Query. Marriage Count (NMR) showing blank
I have set up a custom query with one of the column headings as %INDI.NMR[1]% (Marriage Count) and another column as %INDI.FAMS[1]>~SPOU[1]>NAME[1]% (Family as Spouse Spouse Name) When I run the query the marriage count is blank in all cases even when a wife is shown. Edit Custom Query: or function and date
Many thanks for your help. The advanced topics in help was beneficial. The list of standard functions is so long it is difficult to know which ones to loo...
