Re: Property Box - Starred 'fact flags' on births/born events
If you suspect this only happened a few days ago, and you haven't done too much work on your tree since then, it might be worth restoring one of the automatic snapshot backups to see if that solves the issue for you. If you're not sure about snapshots, there is plenty of help in the FH help and lots...

Re: Ancestry Discount
Adrian, the £179 is for 12 months, as far as I can see, £89.99 only buys you 6 months. I’d double check exactly what you’re getting if I was you, as I fear you’ll be disappointed :D Ancestry is suggesting you are only saving £19! Thanks for pointing it out Mick, Ancestry are a bit sneaky since they...

Re: Ancestry Discount
A newer link to a worldwide subscription for £89.99 has recently been posted on the RootsChat forum. As with the previous similar offer, it is intended for new subscribers, but I used the previous offer successfully after allowing my subscription to lapse for 24 hours. I'm not sure that it would be...

Re: Oddity when pasting Footnote text from FH to word processor
I can replicate the same problem. Revealing the text formatting in Word shows that it is picking up an erronous Italic format at the beginning of the pasted section, which is not passed when the header is included. Screenshot 2023-07-31 230926.jpg I couldn't find any way to suppress this being copie...

Re: Is there a 'Dead Flag'?
You can set some parameters in Preferences > Estimates as shown below: Screenshot 2023-07-23 182832.png I don't think there is a 'dead' flag as such - if you want to mark people as such, you could create your own flag. Do you know how to do this? Just ask if not. There isn't a generally agreed proto...

Re: Exporting Family Historian data to a TNG Website
The His & Her Side links can be quite useful. You can configure them in Admin > Setup > Configuration > Template Settings, where you can set the displayed text and ID number of the linked person. In my site, I have them linked to my mother and father, and display "Mum's Side" and "Dad's Side". In ge...

Re: Exporting Family Historian data to a TNG Website
I replied to this in the other thread ... did it get moved? Anyway I will repost my answer below. You can't sync them directly, Geoff. You will need to do another export from FH and then re-import that into TNG. The export from FH will be the same as the first export, but how you import into TNG wil...

Re: ADVICE: First time exporting to a TNG Website
I have yet to go through the setting up procedure and setting up the database. So the first thing you need to do is in your site's cPanel, and set up a database and database user/password. You'll need these in the TNG setup. If you've loaded your TNG files onto your server already, you just need to...

Re: ADVICE: First time exporting to a TNG Website
Hello Geoff, I maintain a TNG website to present my family history. I can help you with setting up and transferring your data from Family Historian, but you should be aware from the outset that this is not a simple one-click process. As a first step, how far along are you in purchasing and installin...

That's very helpful, thank you for posting that.
I found the link and it appears to work, I just have to wait for my subscription to expire to hopefully take advantage of it. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

That's pretty good, and £2.50 is good value I think.
I didn't know they were working on this. I do wish they would complete the work on digitizing the records that they ran out of money for a number of years ago.

Thanks both. I have FMP as well as they used to have almost exclusive access to the Parish Registers that were online. However, now Ancestry have a lot of them as well. Go to Tools > Preferences > Diagrams and click the "Enable One-Click Diagram Display from Toolbar" option. Now when you click a diagram button on the toolbar, the diagram will appear without the option box first. Screenshot 2023-07-02 092423.jpg There may be other ways of doing this that I'm unaware...

Yes it is possible. Just click on the font line, press Clone Line at the bottom, move it to where you want it to take effect from, then click Edit and change the font options to the ones you want. I've attached a screenshot which will hopefully help. Screenshot 2023-07-02 080404.png There's also a F...

Do the items you are trying to paste in FH7 successfully paste into other applications? For example, will they paste into Notepad, or Word?

Re: Windows 11
I wonder if John is actually referring to the Windows Snipping Tool, rather than traditional Cut & Paste? I know that Snip & Sketch was introduced and this may now be the default application, but it can be turned back to Snipping Tool. I also read recently that the Print Screen key default behaviour...

Just to confirm that I don't get those symptoms either- both Date Modified and Date Created show as the new date/time that the file was produced. I'm using Windows 11 and Gedcom Export Plugin 5.2.3.

Thank you Lorna and Mike. Yes, I was confusing myself, and I was talking about linking to Individuals when the original poster was talking about linking to Facts. Sorry if I muddied the waters. Re: am I missing a setting? Attaching media to facts
I wouldn't necessarily call this an obscure method myself; mainly as it's also the way I work when recording information :D I do this for all source images, not just censuses. I do this for two reasons. Firstly, it helps when I export to my TNG website, as the media then appears on each relevant per...

Re: Is it time to split the General Forum?
The TNG User Board has a similar flavour to the FHUG Board in that there is quite a mix of different levels of users asking a wide variety of questions. There are currently 14 different Forums, most of which have subforums, some with as many as 4 different sublevels. In general the board is well-run...

Re: Source & media naming
If someone exports the data and imports again, are the id numbers retained or does it renumber? When you import a GEDCOM, it will import the ID numbers in that file. If it is the same file you have exported, they will remain the same. However, if another person or a software application, has decide...

I believe it means Automatic Source Citation, a method of data entry in FH.
