Automatic ';Count of children'; per marria
I noticed the 'count of children' field which is associated with an individual. I would rather have something automatic that gives me the count of children per marriage. That number then could, for example, be included into a query. Cumberland Family Tree - which is where I came from in terms of sof...

Automatic Repository Citation
John, Jane saw what I meant - the problem to be solved is this: I sit in an archive, examine e.g. the parish records, and enter sources with a title like [parish place, book, date, marriage entry for John Miller]. The way I am doing this, there often are dozens of sources, if not more, done in one s...

Automatic Repository Citation
Jane,
well, yes, basically that is what I do. But it would be so much easier if I wouldn't have to remind me of doing so all the time.

Automatic Repository Citation
I like the automatic source citation option, but even more I'd like to have an automatic repository citation option in connection to source entries. Usually, I sit in an archive for a day or so, and during that day, the repository remains all the same - so why enter it anew for each source? Thanks a...

Notes in Source Summary Reports
Hi,
I would like to include a source's notes into the Source Summary Report, but the data references are pretty confusing here. What would be the data reference necessary here?
Thanks

oh - really? That's a new thought. Now I know what I might give the computer to do tonight so that it won't get bored ...

Computer hangup when splitting tree
Jane,
the task manager says the processor is busy by 100%, and it also says that the program does not react. I did not try waiting for longer than a few moments after seeing the 'no reaction' entry in the task manager.
I hadn't run Validate, but did so just now, and it reported no problems.

Computer hangup when splitting tree
I tried to export part of my 34000-individual file, following the directions about copying the file, defining the group by named lists and/or queries, and then running the split tree helper (with 'delete anything NOT found by the query ...'). The program comes to a standstill whenever I try this, no...

Talking of that - what is the difference between baptism and christening?

Data references for diagram, conditional ones
Ross and Gerry,
thanks for the answers!
I'll think about using LifeDates, but originally I wanted full dates and places, not only the years. By now, I decided to include all four events - makes the boxes pretty big, but does contain what I want ...
I'll take a look at the wish list.

Data references for diagram, conditional ones
I would like to have EITHER birth or christening date, respectively either death or burial date in my diagrams. In Germany, sometimes you get the christening date from the records, but not the birth date. For this reason, I would like to use a data reference which conditionally includes the christen...

Some attributes in Family Group Sheet missing??
Simon and Jane, I'm using 2.3.1. (bought it about ten days ago). Trying again, I was just now able to reproduce the problem, and narrow it down - will leave it up to you to judge whether it is a problem, after all. I defined, for example, a custom attribute named 'Military service'. In one case, I o...

Some attributes in Family Group Sheet missing??
Jane, thanks a lot for answering. Basically, I like the program far more than the other 'big' ones like TMG and Legacy, but it seems I'll have to learn a lot still. As to the question of what is in the options: in both cases it is 'all': 'Report Options', 'Contents': 'Marriage Events/Attributes' and...

Some attributes in Family Group Sheet missing??
I just found out that the attribute 'Possessions', is missing in the printout of a Family Group Sheet, although there are fields in that attribute. Other attributes like Residence do show up, as well as all the events attached to that person (in this case, the husband). What am I doing wrong?? Sabin...

Jane,
thanks for the answer. I checked the Reports section of the wish list, but couldn't discover anything that would cover what I mean - I believe. May we add that to the wish list?
