Re: BMD Icons in Diagrams

Hello Mike, Yes I always copy & paste if I can, I've just tried again with the same result. This is what I am pasting:-

=IsTrue(%CUR~FAMS>MARR.SOUR>_TYPE% = "Marriage")

Re: BMD Icons in Diagrams

Thank you Mike, I now have Birth & Death working but the Marriage comes up with 'Invalid Expression', I've tried working it out but not had any luck, can you put me right please.

Many thanks

Margaret.

Re: BMD Icons in Diagrams

Thank you Mike, I did read the Knowledge Base > Understanding Expressions but to be honest I didn't understand very much of it, but, I did manage to work out and copy the expression for the Census which works fine. I have also just added Birth in the Type Box to one Birth Certificate Source and copi...

BMD Icons in Diagrams

I've managed to get the census icons to appear under the boxes in my diagrams by using the Census Expression, I now want to do the same where I have a Birth, Marriage or Death Certificate, how do I phrase the Expression please, my Source always starts off with the words Birth/Marriage/Death Certific...

Well, I wouldn't have bought FH from reading that review, such a lot of mis-information and half understood 'facts', I hope that it hasn't done more harm than good.

Perhaps the bulbs were pinched by one of the carnival floats, or were you just fed up with us all popping them?! :)

Re: Family History 6 and Widows xp

Yes, I too am having to give up a much loved (and still working) XP computer if I want to upgrade, I do have a W7 laptop and the thought of getting all my files and programmes transferred (and hoping that they all still work!) is making me feel slightly sick! But, I've just read Simon's e-mail detai...

Re: Family Historian 6 - 9th December

Looks good, I'm getting quite excited. At the moment I use FH on both my old XP desktop and my slightly newer W7 laptop, do you know if FH6 will still be compatible with these, particularly my ancient XP, and will I be able to use on both with just the one licence as I do now? Looking forward to se...

That you Tatewise, having same name records in the wrong date order had always annoyed me, hopefully now they will display correctly.

Modifying Fact Sentence

For a couple of people I know the date that they moved house so just for these few people I want to change the words in the Resident Fact from 'she was resident in' to 'she moved to' however I don't seem able to get rid of the word 'in', can anyone point me in the right direction please. Thanks for ...

BT Vault?

Yes I did Jane, but I obviously didn't understand it, I'll go back and have another go.  (Do we have a 'blushing' icon?  I think that I need it)

BT Vault?

Thanks everyone, I think that where I was going wrong was that I was dragging and dropping my files into Dropbox, whereas if I copy and paste my work stays on my computer.

BT Vault?

Thanks for the comments, I didn't think of what happens if I leave BT, but my work will still be on my PC so wouldn't be lost. Skydrive and Live Mesh both look like another version of DropBox and to be honest I don't like the idea of having my work only on a 'cloud' somewhere, I much prefer it on my...

BT Vault?

I've been reading the post regarding Microsoft Skydrive and it reminded me about BT Digital Vault and I was wondering if anyone on here uses it, I really want something that just backs up my photos and FH whilst keeping them on my computer, but I'd rather 'speak' to someone who has first hand knowle...

Mine arrived here in beautiful sunny Dorset this morning too, now do I cook lunch, sit in the sun or play with my new upgrade - no contest, the upgrade comes first!

Version 5

I don't think that they've finished updating their website yet as some of the headings still refer to version 4. I've ordered the update and that won't be in until Wednesday or Thursday.

The FH website is still showing version 4.

Online databases e.g WVR, Findmypast and Ancestry

I think that we all have our favourites, personally I much prefer FMP to Ancestry. I don't know much about FMP's free trial but Ancestry ask for your card details up front and if you forget to cancel your proposed sub. you are locked in for a year.

I see that it is March now, [cry][cry][cry], but I would rather that it is more or less 'perfect' rather than have lots of updates to correct silly little errors.[smile] It is so hard being patient. [wink]

saving changes

Under 'Preferences', 'File/Load Save' you can set up an 'Autosave', if you exit before this time is up you will be asked if you want to save changes.

Hope that this helps.

Margaret.

PS Under 'Preferences', 'Backup' you can set up your default Backup folder.

I'm sure that Calico won't release until they are sure it is ready, but I must admit that a few more teasers and maybe a screen-shot or two would help keep us under control!

Family Historian Courses in the South West?

I would be interested in either/both, but as I'm temporarily without a car for a few months it would depend on timing.
