Recording military service
Hi Graham, Like the other replies in the thread, i use a Custom Attributes for recording military deatils. I have created a series for the main 'events', so i have : 'Military Enlistment' - on this i record the service number, the date/place joined and which force (i.e. British Army, Royal Navy, etc...

Hilary,
Thats why i asked if you could upload it to the format, or if you perfer to email to me. I can then try attaching it to a dummy file to see if it is a image issue or somthing within FH that just does not like your file.

Hillary, When you post you reply to the forum, just under the text box you will see a link with the text 'Upload Image/Family Historian File (.jpg ,.gif,.png or .fh*)'. After typing your message, click this link, and then browse to drive location on your computer where you saved the image, and selec...

Hi Hilary, Could you up load a screen shot so we can see how it looks, that might help with the resolution of your problem. (You can use the ALT+PrintScreen combintion when the window is displayed, and then past this as a new image in an art program to create the screen shot). Also could you describ...

Repository Data on Individual Summary Report
Hi all, I have just been entering some repository details to link to various sources, and decided that to much data was showing in the indiviudal summary report. So using the options i decided to switch everything apart from the web site address off (i.e. uncheck the boxes). However, the web site de...

Hi David, That is very good site that you found. Whilst i did not find any direct relatives, i did find my families name appearing a few times as victims, witnesses and defendents, and it makes interesting reading. I also love the fact that they have gone to the trouble of maing links to the nationa...

Prehaps the reporting should be changed to say 'family' rather than marriage, as marriage is an attribute of the family group (and reported as such).

Multiple Source Refernces Question
Hi all, I am getting some strange results when linking multiple times on a single person to a source, with different references, and producing the individual summary report (or family summary report). What i have is a will, spread over a number of pages, so i have created a source for the will (whic...

Getting a 'note' into a query
Hi David, The simple answer to this question i believe will be INDI.BIRT.SOUR.NOTE2. To answer your question about how to work it out, you need to look at the structure of the data, and think of a hierachy. In this case when you look at the 'all' tab and expand out the details you should see that th...

Getting a 'note' into a query
Hi David,
Can you please give an example of where the source note you are trying to put in the query is located as the heirachy on the query matches the structures on the all tab of the individual. so if you could provide that info, then we should be able to work out which not you need.
Richard

Legal terms in wills
Hi all,
Does anybody know of a good web site that would define some terms that a friend of mine has transcribed for me form a will. The terms are messugges, tenements & hereditment and the will is from 1807.
Thanks

Hi Everbody, I have been using FH for a couple of weeks now, and am very impressed. However, i would like to tweak the reports so that the title/captions for the images appear to the right of the image, rather than underneath, as with the images in the row across the top you end up with a long list ...

Introducing Gedcom Census 4.0.7
Hi Nick, Just like to say thanks for an excellent little program, which save me a lot of time entering details when i used it for the first time last night. I agree with John that a residence event would be a nice option, as well as the census event. I could then use that as part of a query to view ...
