Census age not copied to occupation attribute
Hi Tim, That depend's on what you are recording. I use multiple occupation attribute's as they are the facts record on a census, or BMD Certificate. The only infomation that you truely have is that on that one day, the person was listed as doing occupation x. You can assume the if they do that same ...

Ancestors amp; Descendants Diagram
Hi Simon,
Thanks for the suggestion, i have given it a try and it is exceptionaly fiddly to get it right. Doing the diaram scaling it's almost impossible to get the lines the same size as page, when the box's keep moving [rolleyes].

Ancestors amp; Descendants Diagram
Hi Tonybee, There is no straight forward answer. When i was printing them in version 2, it was a case of trying both landscape & portrait to see on which way round i could fit the diagram with the least numebr of pages. You need to use the 'view page boundrys' option when looking at the diagram, the...

Ancestors amp; Descendants Diagram
If oftern print out the 'Ancestors & Descendants Diagram', so i have a visual refernce of my direct line. However using version 3 i think there is an issue with the option to avoid the page boundries. It moves the boxes around to avoid the page boundries as i would expect (even if i don't like the f...

Hi All, A friend has just given a file which had been sent to her as she can't open it. Looking at the file it has a .GFT extension which i beleive is from 'Family Tree Maker', and looks like a variation on a GEDCOM file when opened. Does anybody know for sure which program type would open this file...

Adding Multimedia from Diagram
Hi Jane,
Yes, I know there are plenty of other ways, with such a flexable program there always is. [grin]
I have just grown use to doing that way, as i found it easiest.[smile]

Adding Multimedia from Diagram
Hi Jane, Bring up a diagram, say for example the Ancestors and Descendants. The i double click on and individual, and go to the 'All' tab, and then right clicking to use the menus to add a new multimedia object. This gives you an empty multimedia object attached to teh person, which then proceed to ...

Adding Multimedia from Diagram
On version 2, i used to be able to have a diagram open, then select an individual and add a new multimedia item to that person. However on version 3, although it lets me add the new multimedia item, it won't allow me to select the 'type' (i.e. jpg, gif, etc) as it says that the multimedia object is ...

Nick Walker's Gedcom Census
Hi, What is it you are actually trying to delete, the source reference or the individual event/attribute ? If the Event/attribute, just bring up the window for the individual, and go to the Events tab, and then select the event and hit the delete button (the one with the red cross). If it is the ref...

Nick Walker's Gedcom Census
Hi, It really depend's on what the information is that you want to remove. To start you off through, here is what would have been entered via the 'Gedcom Census'. If you go into the file in Family Historian, and click on the sources tab, you should find an entry in this list that corresponds to the ...

Pictures showing for 'Living' familes
I think i might have another 'feature' on the web site creation. I have produced a site with the people flag as 'Living' so that the details don't show which works fine for the individuals details & pictures (although i would like to be able show the pictures but nothing else[grin]). However, family...

Jane,
I'm using ie 6.0.something on windows XP pro. When i remove the style sheet its all ok, i will try it on my Mac later. But i think its the definition of the style used when no data is displayed.

Hi all, Finally got my copy of version 3 today, and upgraded to play with the new features. The first of which being the web site generation. I started using the default options, and got a nive looking site straight out of the box. So i then decided to try out the option of hiding the details of pe...

Ages on Individual Summary Rpt
Hi,
I have been getting this as well, and put it down to the fact that on the reports it only shows age in years (even if you enter a number of months in the age field). So 6mn is actually 0 years & 6mns, so displays 0 years.

Carrie,
Have you tried re-ordering the events using the 'Tools->Re-order out of sequence data' menu option, as i sound like your events are not in order rather than the colomns not in order.
If not, can you attach a screen print so that people can see what you mean.

Hi Julia,
I am a little bit confused by what you are saying. Do you mean that you have defined custom events for the cenus years, and its the place attribute of the custom event thats not appearing in the result set ?

I can't see any options to import it, but if the spreadsheet is logical (i.e. fixed columns for certain data types), i can probably do something for you to turn it into a GEDCOM file.

Tony,
I always use the 'Re-order out of sequence' option under the tools menu. That will arrange various items into Date order, incluing children.

Hi David, It is very possible that you might find records of the inquest. One of my relatives obtained details of an inquest of my Great(4) Grandfather from December 1864, but i am not sure from where though. The records contained the offical verdict, a copy of the 'invite' sent to the Jurors and th...

showing images linked to events in reports
Hi, Although you can attach images to events, i don't belive that it is posible in FH to display them on any reports (at least in the current version). For Census, i attach the image to the source for the individual census source that i create (using the GEDCOM Census program). The images will then ...
