Call me naive, maybe, but I'm genuinely shocked to hear that FH has changed the way it stores configuration data without notifying Mike. His Backup and Restore plugin, whose functionality is perfectly well known to CP, is doing an excellent job in filling a hole that ought -- by any reasonable stand...

Yes, Mike, but it isn't intuitive. You shouldn't need to think "ah, Places names, bet that's a special case" when doing a Find & Replace. If FH has to create a new Place record, so be it, but surely it can clone that new record from the one it's replacing?

Prior to version 6, the most used location appeared first in auto completion. With version 6, it seems to be based on some kind of alphabetical preference. So, for example, I have around 300 'City Road Cemetery' instances but only one 'City Bus Corporation' but auto complete always picks the latter...

Thank you, Lorna, I can see where I was going wrong. Because my research focus is roughly 90% on DoB and 9.99% on DoM, I was treating the filters as applicable to the Date of Birth. When viewed as filters on life timespan, they do indeed work as intended.

Sorry, Mike. I've tried that, and it makes just as little sense as the proper way round. Unless we're mutually misunderstanding the functionality, I think there's a bug here.

If I understand you correctly, all that you need to do is display the Property window of either of the two cousins, click Add Spouse/Partner then Link Existing Record, then select the other cousin from the list of individuals.

A Custom Query where the Rows expression is:

may get you started, though there are probably more elegant solutions.

How did none of us spot that before? Perhaps because the time allowed for beta testing of FH6 wasn't perhaps really sufficient for the scope of changes from FH5? Just a thought for the future.
