Re: Pop Up in AS
Thanks for the responses. I was not aware that Associated Individuals referred to Witnesses, Ministers, etc. and I will have to check in the future that I hit Add. I will also check those which gave the Pop-up, to see if all are there.
Thanks again

Pop Up in AS
Nick I have recently started getting the attached pop-up in AS when I hit the 'Save' button It appears to come on all entries - B, M, D - but not (I think) censuses. Pressing the 'OK' button works, the pop-up goes away, and the info is passed to FH as it always has. Is this something new, or am I do...

Re: Matching Census and Occupation dates in Diagrams
Jane and Mike
Thank you both. The string (?) worked perfectly. As for not getting all occupations, there are some that are missed out (weddings, etc.) but my main idea is there.
The explanation of all the terms was also very useful.
Thanks again

Matching Census and Occupation dates in Diagrams
I include Census date and places in Diagrams as =ExistsText(%INDI.CENS[1+]%,"Census:") %INDI.CENS[1+].DATE:COMPACT% in %INDI.CENS[1+].PLAC:SHORT% , and am trying to attach the Occuption where it exists. However, using %INDI.OCCU[1+]% only lists the Occupations in order they are listed, when I wish t...

Re: Printing a simple landscape tree
I think the Tree may have been compiled using PAF, customised to suit, or Ancestral Quest which is based on PAF, anyway, I think.
I have printed very similar trees using both the above.
Maybe you used PAF before it was 'decommissioned'.

Thanks for your replies. I was aware that FAM.CENS was the Family Census, and just wondered how it was generated.

Re: Expressions and Icons Again - Success?
I have been looking at these expressions for some time as they appear to fit in with the way I set up my diagrams. I like the way the various census icons are coloured to show single or married. However, at the risk of appearing completely dumb, where does INDI.FAMS>CENS come from? I have found it a...

Valkrider and Jane. Thank you both. After 9 years it is apparent that I should have asked this question a LONG time ago. Not being a computer code person, I would never have found that link, although it was staring me in the face. I would think that you still need to know the topic name before you c...

Topic Numbers
I have been meaning to ask this question for some time. I read these forums every day, picking up amazing hints and tips from all the contributors but am yet to understand the numbering system used for Topics. Each Topic (I believe) receives a number which can be used when referring back to it, with...

Re: adding a repository to multiple sources
Bill I had a similar problem some time back and it was solved by Mike Tate with a Plugin. I am not sure how to copy the post, but if you enter "Adding a Repository" in the Search box and scroll down to October 15 2015, you will find my post (Rodit) and Mike Tate's reply, plus a plugin which solves i...

Re: Temporarily remove Flags
Thanks, gents
I think the Toggle work-around didn't work because the icons were put in by Expressions. The only flags in my Record Flags list are Private and Living.
Saving as a Saved Chart as suggested allows me to remove all expressions and clean it up as I wished.

Temporarily remove Flags
I use expressions to place icons/flags into diagrams - census, BDM certs, etc. These work well, but I want to produce a simple diagram - name and dates only - without the icons. There used to be a 'Toggle Flags' plugin which I have used in the past, but my copy does not work (it says it has, but doe...

You spotted it. His second was what one would call a 'relationship', rather than a formal marriage.
I had set their Status as 'never Married'.
Your explanation also explains the lady with 3 husbands.

Re: Quick Child/Family Snapshot
Mike This is a very impressive plug-in, but I may have found an omission/bug. The central Individual panel does not show all marriages. I only spotted this as I was checking it out with my own family and came upon my son who is into his third and it only showed the first!) After that I checked an an...

Great news! Just tracked down 3 children I knew had died because of the 1911 Census.
I am already registered with the GRO so it was straightforward.

Re: Multiple Great Grandfather Designations
I was unaware of the Heralds Visitations - as many of my ancestors were weavers (Lancashire) or coal miners (Yorkshire), I guess that there would not be many in the Knightly ranks! I have got back in some cases to the mid 1500's (11 x GGparents) thanks to the Lancs Online Parish pages, and a One Nam...

When entering the details of my wife's convict ancestors (3 in total), I came across the same problem.
I created Custom Events for 'arrest', 'conviction', and 'sentence', which looks like this:-
Hope that helps

Re: Illegitimate Child - 'Unknown' spouse of mother.
Thanks Mike. It looks as if I have got caught because she has the second husband. I cannot delete the Unknown spouse as there is no Record in either the Record list, or Focus. I have added my vote to the Wish list which, I notice, is 4 years old. I know that I have another single mother where the ch...

Illegitimate Child - 'Unknown' spouse of mother.
I have the death certificate for a child born to a single mother. There is no father named. She later married and had another family. However, on the diagram of her family there is an empty box against her, representing 'Unknown' partner, before her legal husband. I would like the son to be shown di...

Highlighting names on a CD/DVD
Some time back I created a Family DVD and managed to highlight those names in the Index and Contents which could be selected to show more information. I am now creating another DVD using a different project and cannot, for the life of me, repeat this highlighting. It was in fact Bold and Blue. I hav...

Change Record ID
I have been following the Topic 11209|Using colour in Family Historian as my paper documents are collated in files by colour, similar to that mentioned by the initiator. Using the =IsAncestorOf() expression suggested by Tatewise, I now have pretty good Diagrams in a project of MY family. One big pro...
