Hi Simon
Phew!! - I thought I was going loopy for a while!
Maybe the project .GED file should be referenced in the .fh_proj file (kinda like a .ini reference)
I normally do open FH first, but in that particular instance I double clicked the fh_proj file instead.
regards

Hi Jon
All of my .fh_proj files are Ok (I'm researching 20 or so different families)- I'm struggling to understand what is wrong. As you say the project file contains only those 2 lines, it's giving me a real headache!
Thanks anyway

Hi Simon
On the second part of your question. If I click on the GEDCOM file within the project it only opens the GEDCOM file - it doesn't have Family Historian Project in the Title Bar.
regards

Hi Simon Thanks for the reply. I double-click the .fh_proj file and it opens Family Historian. Immediately I get an error dialog which says 'Unrecognised file format. (new line) If you are trying to insert a picture, video, document or other multimedia file into Family Historian, you should click on...

Here is an annoying little feature. Family Historian V4 registers its project files. Normally this would mean that double-clicking the file would launch the program and open the file. Instead Family Historian reports an error and then takes you to the project manager screen, where you can select the...

Exception Report importing a V3 GEDCOM into V4
Thanks Jane Does that mean that the 'invalid branch' lines indented under each exclusion are the duplicated lines? It seems strange for a piece of software which boasts strong error checking should itself create such an error - without it having been 'bug-fixed'. I've used only FH 3.x and Gedcom Cen...

Exception Report importing a V3 GEDCOM into V4
My rather large Family Tree when imported into FH4 generates an exception report when loading. The exception report states that some of the sources are invalid (exceeds max.) and won't load them. They worked fine under FH3.x. I'm puzzled and the report doesn't help me much in understanding the probl...

Hi Starry The way that virus checkers work is to look for the 'signature' of the virus, by comparing sections of code with known sections of code from viruses, stored in a database. This means that it is possible for any program to contain the same code fragments as a virus (because most programs ar...

Editing existing census entries in GC
Hi Nick It would be a handy feature if instead of overwriting existing Census entries (if you choose someone with an existing entry) you were given the option to edit the existing entry. This would allow you to, say, add an image of the census (I have a load where the images were originally PDF file...
