So the escape character you mention is this \ just before the ( and just after the ) yes?? I suppose that it can be applied to any character if necessary...

I'm glad my analysis stands up to scrutiny - it can be hard to check all around an issue.

My mother's ancestors, Bless Them, gave her a maiden surname which gives great scope for variants from Ministers, Church wardens, Registrars and the like. Thank you very much! I'm very glad the new FH/AS combo does deals with witnesses like this, as to future export - well I have no intention of doing that, and if it later happens that I have to, well you have given me the method to do that too!
