Flags out of scope of GEDCOM 5.5?
Hi Adrian, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I had passed over Jane's suggestion to split simply because I have never used this facility and believed it sounded way too complex. In fact the simplest procedure is to Export by query to exclude all private flags then in the export file to remove all flags us...

Flags out of scope of GEDCOM 5.5?
I have some results for this issue. First, everything can be configured from within PhpGedView (PGV), which means that the flags can continue to be used within FH for managing facts and other issues. The fisrt option is to set PGV to ignore all errors. This has it's downside in that it is possible t...

Flags out of scope of GEDCOM 5.5?
OK, thanks Jane. That gives me two lines of approach. I think I'll post on the PGV forum to see if anyone there knows a work-around. If I find a solution I'll post it back here for the record.

Ric

Flags out of scope of GEDCOM 5.5?
Hi, I started using the Living flag to help reduced the amount of information published as web output for living individuals (and those assumed still to be living) to just basic details. So far so good when I come to use FH to create simple web output such as indexes. I use PhpGedView to display the...

Action Query, Estmated alive and Living Flag
Hi, I have created a custom query that in two passes clears all the 'Living' flags including those left True even when a Death Date has been entered and, on the second pass, sets the 'Living' flag True for those individuals assumed to be living as at 'Today'. It does not require a parameter for Toda...

v4 - Web Site Exporting Bug
I'm also getting this problem but, additionally, the problem occurs only where the child number is listed (Child 1, Child 2, etc.). In V3 all children were listed as Child 1, Child 2, etc., but in V4 there are many instances where just the Name is listed. In these latter instances the literal html a...

Uncategorised Data (_FREL and _MREL)
Hi Jane, thanks for your reply. You said: 'If you don't need them you can either change the UDF option to delete them, or just go in on the All tab or records window to delete them.' I don't know if I need them or not. I have deleted a few and everything appears just the same regarding relationships...

Action Query, Estmated alive and Living Flag
Hi, Is there such a thing as an action query? I want to publish FH information to the web. I have decided to use the 'Private' flag only for those individuals who request that NONE of their details are published and use this flag to exclude them from all output. The 'Living' Flag works well for web ...

Uncategorised Data (_FREL and _MREL)
I ran this check and obtained a named list of uncategorised data. There are 58 records all of which have exactly the same problem: The field occurs only under the 'child' field where there are two fields marked '_FREL' and '_MREL'. (And yes, the underscore is always present). Against each '_FREL' an...

Fields for Cerificate Sources
Hi, I am about to start entering a whole bunch of sources I have been collecting and still not sure the best way to enter the information. I know that the Title field is shown as a heading in FH Source Pane unless the Short Title is used in which case the latter is shown preferentially. Apart from a...

Place of Birth via GEDCOM Census
I don't see the column (version 6.0.6) for 'Where Born'. I have just Name, Age (YMD) and Occupation. I think I'm missing something here....Nick Walker said:
As I mentioned it does record the Where Born direct from the census if this isn't already recorded.

Place of Birth via GEDCOM Census
Hi Nick. I take it you are the author of GEDCOM Census, so thank you for taking the time out to reply. Yes, I know exactly what you mean by not wanting to be prescriptive. There are probably as many ways and views as there are people and satisfying them all is just not possible. I think my problem i...

Place of Birth via GEDCOM Census
I have tried GEDCOM Census for the first time and the utility is a real benefit for entering census information. I have a couple of questions: I was surprised the additional information regarding Class/Piece/Folio/Page isn't explicitly defined - should this information simply go in the single 'Ref' ...

Plotting the Geographical Movement of Individuals
This is looking good. What I am after is something along the following lines: * Scatter map of individuals at any one point in time * Journey of movements of 1 individual over time * Web output???? The scatter diagram example you posted looks just the thing I am after for a snapshot in time. Does Fa...

Plotting the Geographical Movement of Individuals
This is a bit off the wall I know, but does anyone know if there is any software that will help plot the movement of individuals and families over time? I'm not even sure if there is a generic name for such software.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!.
