Automatic Marking of Diagram Boxes
I'm trying to find a better way see people in a diagram who have a DNA match - eg 8 individuals who appear all over the place in a large All Relatives Diagram. The best I've managed to come up with in terms of seeing who and where they are in the tree is : - set a flag against each matched person to...

Conflict with vpn
I've had Nordvpn running on my pc for a few years - nothing special, just connected to a UK server. Over the last few days I've not been able to access the fhug website (just times out) and I've now worked out that if I disconnect vpn, I can access it with no problems. Access to all other websites s...

Changing icon sizes on Diagrams
I've looked at other posts on the subject of displaying v7 icons but I dont think any of them gave me the solution to my problem. I've got a series of displayed icons that are generated either via expressions or flags. I can change the icon size if it is flag generated but I cant seem to find an the...

Re: Slow save on network share
I have my FH data on a NAS drive on a hard-wired LAN and I find v7 will often freeze during a save. Its only a few seconds for a 16M file but a bit irritating when I'm doing data entry.
Given this is new to v7, fingers crossed it will improve in an upgrade

Customisation of Diagrams, etc after Upgrade
After upgrading to v7, I successfully switched all icons to be displayed on diagrams from flag to expression generated; I also created a couple of extra census icons for US censuses run in x0 and did various other tweaks to v6 customisation. That is on all on my desktop. I've now upgraded fh on a ne...

Adding Icons to charts
I used the previous facility in AS to set the relevant census flag and then added a series of conditions in the Diagram Options/Boxes/Record Flag to display the correct icon. Now the facility is no longer available in AS, I browsed the AS forum and there was a post mentioning a series of 7 expressio...

Re: AS7 - Restoring Previous Census Templates
The changes to census templates are a bit more extensive than just replacing UK with England/Wales/Ireland, etc. There is also now a 'census type' which allows it support things that are similar to census records like electoral rolls. There are also options to, for example, use a residence fact rat...

AS7 - Restoring Previous Census Templates
I've just upgraded to FH7 and then AS7. During the AS7 upgrade I thought I'd checked a box to keep my previously customised census templates. Whatever I did or didn't do, I'm left with a new set of census templates and exploring this forum and the AS7 menu options I'm not sure what to do next. Is th...

It looks as though the problem could be more widespread than just email issues. I tried to enter my name and registration key from the v5-v6 upgrade email from Calico Pie to get my discount. Info was cut and pasted but the message still came back "Registration Key not Recognised". Will try again wh...

Re: Running a Query on the Result Set of Another Query
Thanks Mike,
I'd guessed it might not have been possible. Adding the row filter and changing it each time got me 50% of the way there though.

Running a Query on the Result Set of Another Query
Not sure if this can even be done but I can't find it covered elsewhere. Essentially, what I want to do is to work just on a subset of records (often surnames) and then interrogate that subset further. The subject of the second interrogation is almost as open-ended as the queries available (eg missi...

Re: Modifying "Contains Text" Standard Query
Thanks Mike, Yes I had checked help /and/ the forum threads /and/ the knowledge base /and/ the FH book which is something I always do before I post. I hadn't appreciated the standard contains text query was so powerful so, as you suggested, I just entered my two words and got the result :). Going ba...

Modifying "Contains Text" Standard Query
I'm trying to find anyone who was born or might have lived/married/died/etc in Egremont, Cumberland. It is not set up as a place name so I thought of just searching on the two words. Using the standard contains text query as a starting point where I can enter the county name I've then been trying to...

Thanks Mike, I'll have a go at your copy project suggestion but I've hit a problem at the first hurdle - it is greyed out together with other options on the same dropdown list :( Screenshot is attached. I then loaded the sample project that comes with FH to see if that worked but I got the same resu...

Re: Starting New Project
Thanks Mike, I did that before I posted but only some of the customisation seemed to go over. So the ones I've spotted so far are : 1 my records window is only partly customised eg I have a field on the main tab for whether or not probate has been checked. Field name is there, but a tick box isn't. ...

Starting New Project
I want to start a new project but use the fairly heavy customisation of tabs, flags and icons on trees, sources, place name lists, etc. that I've built up over the years on my main project.
Any advice on the best way to do this will be appreciated.
Many thanks

Re: Query - Possible Common Ancestors
No prompt - but there were references to Starting Person in some of the expressions defining the columns. (Now just read Mikes post that arrived!) I've deleted those fields and the unwanted field on the opening dialogue box has now gone. The query works almost perfectly. Thanks :) However, I had to ...
