At the moment if I move an FH window (eg multimedia) to the right for it to be displayed in my second monitor, it moves part way but does not display.
Can it be displayed or is it a software limitation?
Thanks

Renaming Living People as ';Living Person'
Thanks tatewise and PeterR - I've got to where I want to be, so many thanks. Thought I'd give a bit of feedback in terms of loose ends. - It doesn't seem essential to add additional field names in the query to pick up multiple name instances. After I deleted all the names I was left with a much smal...

Renaming Living People as ';Living Person'
With some great help from tatewise I've now got a gedcom file where all events, etc. for people who are flagged as Living has been deleted. I need now to rename each of those 300+ people 'Living Person'. Is there a way I can globally change a name in FH, or alternatively globally add a birth date of...

Thanks tatewise, It worked a dream[grin] so many thanks for both the general solution and the detailed instructions. For anyone else interested, although the instructions look complex, the whole process took just a couple of minutes Is there a way this can be put into the Knowledge Base as the solut...

Deleting data for Living Persons
Hi Peter, thanks for the suggestion Yes, I'd started with resprivata. Understandably, it gave a rather messy interpretation of who was/was not living when my data was incomplete so that was why I went over to FH queries and flags with a manual tidy up at the end. Additionally, and I did not realise ...

Deleting data for Living Persons
Thanks, I've now got all my records with a 'Living' or 'Deceased' flag against them - partly done through queries and then manually adjusting where the query was obviously giving the wrong answer. I'm not clear on the next stage and that is how to delete the facts, multimedia, etc. for records where...

Deleting data for Living Persons
I'm wanting to create a gedcom file that I can upload onto a public website. I'm making good progress but need a bit of advice in two areas : - is there a particularly good query to use to identify living persons. (Working on date of birth and death doesn't seem to be sufficient as it will leave liv...

Unhiding Hidden Facts
There are some events and attributes that I can only get to by clicking the 'Show Hidden' option on the Event/Attribute list window and adding them to a person record from there. Is there a way I can copy them over to the standard fact set (ie the list that opens when you click the 'Add Fact' button...

Query to Find Maden Name from Married Name
I've had to reinstall FH and can't seem to find a query that I'd previously downloaded. Essentially you typed in the first name and married name of the wife and, it returned the matching maiden name, etc..
Can anyone help with it

Thanks Irene and Peter for pointing me in the right direction.
I notice if I control click on two records in the source pane, I'm taken straight to the merge window.

Tidying Up Sources
Over the years I've been using FH, I'm now in the situation that I have over 800 sources that can tidied up quite a lot. Is there any facility (or way of achieving it differently) along the lines of Tools/Work with Data/Place List. I need to be able to (1) merge sources (2) tidy up typos in others (...

Adding Custom Event/Attribute
I'd like to be able to create a new event/attribute to record a voyage. So the info to capture would be very similar to that for emigration.
Is there a way that can be done. (At the moment I've created an attribute/event for a voyage but it does not have the required fields.)
Thanks
Robin

Keeping FH4 on two pc's in sync
If you haven't already tried it, you could buy a cross-over cable and connect the 2 pc's through their network ports.
Assuming the project folder is no more than a directory, you could then use the Windows Briefcase feature on one of the pc's to keep all the files in sync with the other one.

Editable marriage status drop-down list
I've got quite a lot of couples where anecdotally they are married but either the proof is still to find /or/ the evidence suggests differently - same with people anecdotally divorced. So the idea of being able to categorise these people slightly differently is, to me, quite appealing. I know you co...

This may help - if only to isolate it isn't the problem. Open up your gedcom file in a text editor and look for one of the line entries relating to a photo - it will show you the /exact/ directory path. Check that against the actual directory path in explorer of where the photos are actually stored....
