Place report for specific individuals
I have several lists of individuals, each representing a branch of my family. I would like to produce a place report for each branch. In other words, the places in the report should be those that are associated - through one or more facts - with the specific individuals? Is there a way, using querie...

Bibliography in website
I am using the website wizard with a primary page type of individual narrative . In the source tab of the report options I have ticked show bibliography . But no bibliography is generated. As a stand-alone report, the bibliography is included. Any suggestions, or is this a bug that I should report? ...

Re: Asterisk with "has own or shared page" in Website Index
Arthur, There is another option here, but this solution comes with a number of caveats: It uses Javascript to modify the output at the time it is displayed. It is inextricably tied to the format that FH generates for the index page - for example, the asterisk is currently rendered in a tag. If...

Unfortunate wording in FH help
Today I found this in the FH7 help: This section describes advanced features. It is primarily intended for advanced and technically-minded users (especially the part about functions). In other words - please do not be discouraged if it makes no sense to you. Am I alone in thinking it's just a gender...

Re: Recording Census.
Andy, FWIW, I record Residence, Occupation as attributes and link them to a census record as a source. My rationale is that a census is very different from a person's life event like a birth or marriage that changes the lives of a small number of people: the census is a government activity that brie...

Re: DEA questions
Well wouldn't you know it ... Have just attempted to recreate the problem to capture the whole screen and although I got the exception, this time FH handled it and the updates are there in my project. Anyway, this is what I had: Part1.jpg Part2.png . I can now see how this feature can potentially wo...

Re: DEA questions
A lot of discussion since I was last here ... But in response to Helen's request Alyn, could you run it again and provide a screenshot of the data entry screen just before you press OK, so I can work out what's going on please? The screen shot is attached: Plugin bug.jpg I should add that FH crashed...

Re: DEA questions
Helen, Did you try either of the plugins I posted for testing which work with generic sources? I've just tried Record Birth Data (any) . I got this from the plugin: ... Re: DEA questions
Thanks for the reply Helen. My conclusion is that the answer to both my questions is "no, for now", and I'm quite disappointed, given that Source Templates and Source Driven Data Entry were two of the selling points of FH7. I suspect (and hope) my conclusion is wrong, and that all that is really mis...

DEA questions
Am I missing something here? I am experimenting with using a DEA to enter marriage details. I already have a source record from FH6 for the parish records in question. First question. Can I use it or do I have to create a new source record - my understanding is that I need a new one. Am I right? Can...

Yes, sorry about that - I misread the checkbox in the Windows properties.Alyn, is mistaken. The FH Sample Project is NOT read-only.

Re: Unable to save changes.
Hello David Welcome aboard... It looks as if you have attempted to save your data in the sample project folder. This is a read only folder - for good reason: it's a demonstration of the FH features, and not intended for your own family data. Did you create a new project into which to import your exi...

Re: Exporting media with frame links to Gedsite
I think the difficulty is that in FH frames don't take on a life of their own as separate media records with a title and a note. In my case: 1 TITL Edward Stanton Roberts and siblings 1 _NOTE Back row: Sally Roberts, Mattie Evans, Edward Stanton Roberts, Hannah Jones 2 CONT Front row: Robert Roberts...

Re: Exporting media with frame links to Gedsite
According to the Gedsite help ... Caption Preference GEDCOM files include a TITL record which is typically the caption for an image. Image files may also include caption text. If Caption Preference is set to Favor Exhibit, GedSite will use the GEDCOM TITL record value as the image caption. If there ...

Re: Exporting media with frame links to Gedsite
Thanks Mike, Having looked into this a bit more, it seems that all the images generated from the frame links have the same title (TITL) record in the exported GEDCOM, and this is what Gedsite uses for the caption. So for now the only option I have is to create new media from the frames - actually it...

Exporting media with frame links to Gedsite
I am using the Export Gedcom File plugin to export to Gedsite. I want to use a group photo with frame links to create portraits of individuals within that group. I have tried the PART~ABS and PART~LMO options. Both of these create new image files from each frame, which are correctly displayed in Ged...

Re: Making sensible selections
My approach is to examine the evidence carefully before I add anyone to my project. I add individuals only if I know their relationship to others with a good degree of certaintly. This does sometimes involve calculating ages the "hard" way (although IMO it's not really that hard). For me, this is pr...

Given names and Surnames
I just noticed that the names of individuals in my project are recorded in two ways: Names of individuals that I imported have a given name record and a surname record (presumably because the imported GEDCOM was coded this way. Names that I typed into FH myself do not. Untitled.png I have worked wit...
