Re: Source and Citation Text to Source Rich Text & Tables
Thanks Helen, Nick and Mark for your comments. Silly really.....not realising I just needed to name the file the same as the original and copy the original to another name  . I have been using FH since V3 I think and like every piece of software that is enhanced, I like looking at the new feat...

Re: Source and Citation Text to Source Rich Text & Tables
Thanks you very much Mike and Helen for your input. I'm probably not the only FH user that likes trying out the new features of an upgraded product. Isn't that why the product is upgraded in the first place? (apart from bug fixes of course). For the moment, I will keep using AS for all the standard ...

Source and Citation Text to Source Rich Text & Tables
Hello Fhug users, I have progressed a bit with the Template for Civil Registration Index and DEA's for BMD Birth Death Marriages etc (with a few little issues noted). Lumped under three Sources with Citations to each Individual. On completion, the Text from Source data attached to each Citation is d...

Re: Text from Source Missing
Thank you Helen, That was quick! Much appreciated, I have not used the DEA's for all my sources, I still use the very good AS programs as well for the standard items, but where I find the DEA's very good is for things like Paper Clippings, and Wills etc, the non standard stuff. Very good idea. Howev...

Re: Text from Source Missing
Thank you for the feedback Helen,
I will start with the BMD Births and Deaths with the Civil Registration Index DEA as they work fine. I'll wait for the update to the Marriages DEA. Perhaps you could let me know when you have had time to update it please?
Many thanks,
PP

Hello again and thanks for all the help re my previous post on Infant Mortality. I am tidying up my BMD entries and decided to use The Civil Index Register template along with the DEA. Entered a Marriage Screenshot 2022-07-21 133201.jpg Then went to the fact through the Individual. Screenshot 2022-0...

Re: Infant & Juvenile Mortality
Hello and many thanks for your responses. All very interesting and I shall integrate your ideas into my operation. :) One question: I am currently trying to use a single source template with many citations as mentioned above which seems to be working. I have used the Civil Registration Index Templat...

Infant & Juvenile Mortality
Hello FH users, I am dipping into the program again after a short while away. My last query was on changing Flags to Expressions so that I didn't lose the Icons attached to the individuals in the Diagrams / Charting option. Mike kindly sorted me out on that. :P My current question is: Can I use an e...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Ok Mike, I think after a week or so, my mind has become a bit fuzzy with one laptop giving errors on the plugin and the new one functioning correctly. I will make sure that in future I tick the restore registry box when reinstalling the settings. Is there a registry box tick on the plug-in for both ...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Hi again Mike, I have managed to Restore FH7 on my new laptop. I ran the Restore Settings plug-in and I noticed that the Registry button seemed to be greyed out.....(or is it grey normally)? I had Program files button in green, and skip button. I did select the registry option..... Anyway, through a...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
It is important to understand that FH uses the Windows Registry for many settings instead of the ProgramData folder. Users have complained about the way settings are all over the place but not much as improved. The core standard Diagram Options and thus Box Conditions for Icons are saved in the Wind...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Ok, following on from the other night. 1) I ran the restore settings (on my new laptop) for a previous version (after viewing the option), this brought back most things APART from my custom diagram box settings and icons. 2) I returned to my temporary machine and decided to upgrade to the equivalent...

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Thanks Mike and Matthew,
I’m afraid I have been away from my laptop since Wednesday, should be back up and running tomorrow.
I’ll try and hunt down a Windows Pro machine to see if I can resurrect the hard disk. Very good idea!
Thanks for your help.

Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
Hi again Mike, An update.....On my temp laptop I..... Reinput the icon rules in the diagram box entries, plus a few flag entries and that worked well. Ok Mike, That makes me feel much better after a bit of a **** day. I think we have all been there sometime haven't we? Re: A Slight Laptop Problem
I presume you modified one of the core toolbar Diagrams to add the Icons. Not recommended. Sorry Mike, I am not sure what you mean by the first line.......... What I did was write a line of code for each icon event (that you kindly sent me on another thread) in the Diagram boxes area to change from ...

Ok I have found the hidden directories on E: drive and I have copied the Family Historian directory to the same place on the C: drive. A Slight Laptop Problem
Hello to all the FHUGs, I am hoping that someone can conjure up something for me. This includes "Text to Sourcing each on...

Re: re naming source/media files
Hi just stumbled across this.....and it looks interesting. Tried the Jan 2021 version and it worked very well on a media file. Is there any way of removing the id code at the beginning and the underscores between the descriptors in the final file name, because that would be exactly what I require. I...

Hi Mike and CVG, My wife just came through from the kitchen brandishing a credit card saying Happy Christmas just upgrade the b software!!! Re: Moving Project and settings from V6 to another laptop with V7
No, I have set the path to where my Backups are... G:/ etc etc. Now I get a different error.... My backups are in my own path on C: Drive, plus on a G: Drive detachable for obvious reasons. I don't have full FH7 on my Dell (just trial) and no special settings either. I have many executables for FH s...

Re: Moving Project and settings from V6 to another laptop with V7
Hi Mike, Laptop was originally Windows 7, but upgraded to Windows 10 approx 18 months ago....so no non-standard settings I believe. You are correct about the Backup, Restore Settings, it is the first time that I have downloaded it and tried to use it. Not sure why it is not working. I assume then, I...
