Multimedia in Individual Summary Report
This seems similar to the existing Wish-List item 'Option to change placement of Notes in Reports (406)' and could perhaps be combined with it?

Multimedia All tab to display thumbnail
I'm not sure this is necessary, because it is already possible to achieve virtually the same result if you use the Multimendia Window and open the Multimedia Property Box docked, and double-click a thumbnail to display the full-size image.

Customising multimedia record
Sarah, The Multimedia Window already shows a list of linked Individual and Family records for each thumbnail you click on in the thumbnail view. If you double-click a thumbnail it shows the full-size picture, and you can then click on individual linked faces and it highlights that Individual in the...

I suggest using the Tools menu Work with Fact Sets... to create a new custom fact with the following template: {individual} travelled <to {_place}> <on boat {note}> {date} You can then enter place and date in their respective fields, and enter the name of the boat in the Note field. The displayed se...

Private Notes - a question and a cautionary tale
I don't think so, apart from Fig.50 (v3) or Fig.71 (v4) which show the Report Options dialog, including: http://www.fhug.rjt.org.uk/images/uploads/2009-11-28_130914.png However, FH Help does include the following: 'You can mark a section of any note as private by putting it in doubled square bracket...

Private Individuals in Census Records
Any 'Actual Text' in a Source record, and any 'Text from Source' in a Source Citation is most likely to appear in the 'Sources' footnote section(s) of a report, where 'private' text in double square brackets is generally displayed even if the 'Inc. [ [private] ] Notes' checkbox is unticked. As I me...

Private Notes - a question and a cautionary tale
The problem of visible 'private' notes need not be confined to the Sources footnote section of reports. It is possible to use the Report Option to Add... Main Section Items . For instance, a Source Note (or citation Note, etc.) thus reported in the Main section will display any 'private' passage ev...

Roz,
I don't know what causes the '2' to appear instead of the name (Jane may well be able to explain this).
Have you tried printing two separate diagrams, and simply hiding one of the spouses each time?

Private Notes - a question and a cautionary tale
Bilko, I agree that it appears that the use of double square brackets to hide the 'private' (parts of) Notes is not univerally supported. As well as the citation/link Note that you mentioned, Source Notes and any Source-Note Notes cannot be 'private'. I don't know whether this is a bug. Either w...

Printing Family Tree on Individual Pages
Marilyn, Have you tried using the two little buttons for Show Page Boundaries and Avoid Page Boundaries ? (Chapter 11 of the manual.) You may also need to Enable Movement/Resizing and move some boxes around (chapter 10). I don't know of any way to automatically number the separate pages for a diagra...

The vast majority of the occupations that I have entered have come from various census returns, so naturally I have entered them by using Nick Walker's excellent Gedcom Census, downloadable from this site: http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=downloadinfo&cat=GedCom&id=14 I don't think it...

I am also generally reluctant to upgrade for the sake of it, but I'm very glad I moved up to V4. Apart from the Focus window, I particularly like that the Properties box can now be resized in both directions, and you can customize it to include any additional fields you like. Also, the new Fact Quer...

Use of flags to hide in Diagrams
I've found a weird way to make boxes disappear, e.g. if the Private flag is set. However, the connecting lines between boxes remain, since the boxes are not really 'hidden'. On Diagram Options, you have to set a Boxes Record Flag Condition for the Private Flag as follows: Box Line colour the same as...

As Jane pointed out above, in V3 the Main tab of the Property box always shows only the first Occupation. It is only in V4 that the Property box can be customized to show, e.g. INDI.OCCU[last].

Fergus, If your backup file was made by FH it is just a zipped (compressed) copy of your GEDCOM file and will not contain any of your linked picture files, etc. It is hard to say whether the file size is reasonable, without knowing how much information about each Individual and Family is stored, an...

Jackie, Unfortunately I don't think there is one 'best' way to do this, given the limitations of the GEDCOM 5.5 standard. There are two relevant FH Wish-List items (which I think should be merged) but their development would, I think, be quite tricky. You may care to add your votes for them: Abilit...

Web Page file names
Not sure what's going on. I've just looked at a very small example I generated using V4 a while ago. It contains just seven Family pages with numbers 3, 4, 8, 9, 51, 870, & 1049 and just two Individual pages with numbers 581 & 582. In all cases the numbers correspond to the current FH Record IDs. If you have a very simple query which finds all individuals with the Private Flag set, you can use that to automatically select all such individuals within your current diagra...

Vimira, Jane may well be able to advise a better way, but I think you could edit the diagram text scheme to include an additional conditional font entry above the name. You would have to set a flag for the relevant 'header' individual(s) and specify that flag must be set for the new font to be activ...

The above-mentioned failure of the =Field() and =GetField() functions to recognize a valid Qualifier for the %INDI.NAME% Field occurs when the functions are used in Query Filters as well as in Column definitions. However, a workaround is possible since the following Filter works OK: Add If =Text(Fie...
