Re: Auto Repair Links
Thanks, Jane. This is what I did so now the ACTUAL folder structure is simple and as it ought to be but the huge links remain from the past when I look in FH Media. I had very old versions of FH so I think from reading previous posts that means all the links would have to be absolute from FH1 or 2. ...

Re: Auto Repair Links
Hello, It seems I might have got into a bit of a similar pickle. I am guessing that I probably have absolute links, and with various moves over the years, the media links look incredibly complicated, even though the "Auto Repair Links" works and I can see all the Media when I view records. I just wa...

Inserting diagrams into diagrams
I have a problem with a very large diagram, into which I have inserted a few much smaller diagrams. Some of these smaller diagrams have had to be modified by the creation of extra lines. This is absolutely fine, and presents no problems, until a small modification is made to the main diagram, at whic...

media size
According to my understanding, there is actually no such thing as an image size as such, there are only pixel dimensions (which can, however, be thought of as having two components, image size and resolution). I take the point of your wish, though, but I would very much like to have even more flexib...

Text for diagrams, reports, narratives etc.
I have a lot of notes about a lot of people on my GEDCOM, and wish, when I print/publish different types of diagram etc. to show various forms of my notes. For example, I am trying to create one very large diagram with many ancestors. I wish to include on this one or two brief sentences about each...

v4 - Web Site Exporting Bug
I have just tried to recreate my website with FH4 and found that the Individual Pages which form the primary part of the site seem to have links to parents and siblings but not to children. This is a great nuisance, because one cannot now browse through a family from old to recent by clicking on li...

Could you please give a more detailed and idiot-proof explanation of these flags. I've got as far as being able to make flags, and associate or disocciate records from them, but can't see what to do now, in terms of making an individual's box look different in a diagram. I was trying also to get rid...

Creating a Website
Another quick question re creating a website. If you make a website during one session and subsequently wish to make a small change (like to the logo, for example) how do you access the details you have previously spent a lot of time setting up (like a long detailed Table of Contents with customise...

Announcing Family Historian 3
I am very much looking forward to this, and it sounds like it will be supplying so much of what people are wanting. I think the price is fine and a real bargain: £23.95 for the update seems a good deal to me.

Where do I go to find these?
Have you tried the 'Society for the Propagation of The Gospel', whose archive is housed at the Bodleian Library, I believe. I have a relative who was a missionary in India, and this line of enquiry bore fruit. Some of the Society's records are also at Lambeth Palace. By the way, if you haven't locat...

Diagrams with repeated families
Gerry, Thanks for your reply, and it's good to find someone else thinking in some of the same ways! With regard to photos and documents, I have loads of autograph old letters, records of military service, ordination documents, a couple of DSO's etc. etc. where what is important to me is the document...

Diagrams with repeated families
Yes, I have the same problem many times in my rather large tree. Branches diverge and then come back together; people marry their cousins or son's sister-in-laws, etc; two brothers marry two girls who are each other's sister; and so on. It is quite common and most unsatisfactory that you get dupli...

Thanks, Jane. Actually, I wanted to put 'Vicar of Fishlake' as an event (rather than occupation), because I wanted to give a chronology of events in the life of a churchman, which included the dates of various posts, moves, etc. Previously I had just done this in a note, as text, but wanted to try ...

Various wishes: please can I have.....!
Having used FH for over six months now, and been on the whole very well satisfied with the programme, I wanted to find out if there are others who would like certain features which I would kill for! 1) Being able to format text in notes. 2) Being able to control the number and size of photos in repo...

Saving tree as gedcom
Yes yes yes!!! I quite agree. This combines (if I understand you rightly) two basic features 1) the ability to make a new GEDCOM from the people in a diagram or report etc. - without having to fiddle around; and 2) the ability to take a diagram and expand any branch one would like at will, with an...

Thanks! SO easy when you know. By the way, on a different matter, I would very much like to be able to make new sites out of part of my large site, so that I can send relevant GEDCOMs to different parts of the family. How I would really like to do it is to make a list of the records I do want and...
