Tweaking the Witness sentence
Also related to the facts that are logged for individuals contained in the marriage record who are not the bride & groom: The occupation of the father is recorded (good) but only with the date - no event associated with it (uh) That can look pretty weird when the children are marrying after the pare...

Tweaking the Witness sentence
No go. The template in the fact definition now reads: {ASSOCPERSON.FULL} was witness to the {SOURCETYPE} of {KEYPERSON.FULL} to {SPOUSE.FULL} The 'local note' in AS now reads: {ASSOCPERSON.FULL} was witness to the {SOURCETYPE} of {KEYPERSON.FULL} to {SPOUSE.FULL} My local note is great, the sentence...

Tweaking the Witness sentence
Hi, I'm using AS 3.0.0 to enter marriages. I've figured out how to create associated individuals as witnesses to marriages. Didn't like the sentence written in the individual's fact list (i.e., She experienced Witness: on in So, I tried to change it. The good news: the note to the event is what I ...

US Census
Thanks, all. I've busily been entering English & US (Federal) census records. I do have a couple of Iowa records (isn't 1925 a dream for a genealogist?), BUT I have suddenly found another question: Where does all the wonderful census info go? For instance, I have a g'g'uncle who's birth year (stated...

Mult Families, Same Page
But if they are related? For instance, I have the father, mother and their two youngest children, and then on the same page, the eldest son, his wife, and their children - three gens on one page, listed as two households, one address. Or, I have sisters at the same address - each of their husbands ar...

Mult Families, Same Page
Hi, I have census records with two families on the same page, different households - i.e., each has a 'head' tho they may,or may not, have the exact same address.
Is it ok to enter the families in the same A.S. entry? Should it be done that way?
thanks

Is there a way to look at a source in the Records Window - and go to the individual that is referencing that source?

I'm still wandering around in confusion! So, ancestral sources is software I can download that will streamline entries int Family Historian (right?). * Where do I download it from? Do I need to download multiple pieces of software? Once I'm running AS, it seems like I need to give it a text template...

Still trying to get a grip on structures: As near as I can tell, FH can be used in a very structured way, as demonstrated in the tutorials, or more loosely. I'm trying to create the more structured format, but work within the tree that I loaded. So - 1) From the Individual Records window; -> the...

It's always a matter of growing new ways of thinking when you start with a new tool!

saving changes
Hi,
When I exit FH, it asks me if I want to 'save changes'. Isn't it saving changes as I make them (isn't that how databases usually work?)
Is it really asking if I want to back up the file?
Thanks

Cleaning up an upload
Hi, I've transferred several Ancestry trees (some overlapping) into PAF, added some records from PAF and cleaned up duplicate individuals using PAF. Finally, I uploaded a single GEDCOM from PAF (from the combined tree) into FH. Surprisingly, this worked pretty well! I can trace the direct line just...
