Re: Ancestral Sources v.7.7.8 Testing (July 2023)
Another minor update to test. See the changes below. I'm determined to release this properly soon! New Features in v7.7.8 (Beta Test) Now includes a 1931 Canadian census template. This is a slightly modified version of a template produced and kindly shared by Teresa Eckford. Alan Medow pointed out t...

Re: Death records
I don't really understand what you're asking. When you add an individual to a death entry it shows you the parents and spouse and you can click them if they are referred to in the entry. Not sure what you mean by "marked with blue"?

Re: Other Information
On the last part of AS there is a box for 'Other Information' but if you enter any text in it, it doesn't show in the following text script? It's an additional text box that you can enter information into but unless you have a title template or auto-text template that includes the {OTHER} tag then ...

Re: Export to GEDCOM: _QUAY values
It depends on which of these options are set. If they are set then add the number to the total. Unreliable = 1 Questionable = 2 Indirect = 4 Direct = 8 Secondary = 16 Primary = 32 Derivative = 64 Original = 128 e.g. Questionable Primary and Indirect would be 2+4+32 = 40 (Edit: actually 38 as Kathy p...

Re: Have lost access to FH on desktop and laptop (OneDrive)
I have OneDrive set to on demand on my laptop and it works fine for me. I do have a good Internet connection though. I use on demand on lots of computers. It improves the sync time considerably but means it is a bit slower when things load up but I don't really notice it very often.

Re: Editing AS Census Templates
<Modified>0</Modified> in the original <Modified>1</Modified> and in my amended version Am I right in assuming that AS uses this field to identify that this is not the original (if I had left the country unaltered), and that I therefore have no unintended consequences from this change? Is this fiel...

Re: Have lost access to FH on desktop and laptop (OneDrive)
My guess is that the outlook.ie account is an alias (i.e. alternative email address) for the same account you use with outlook.com. I have 7 aliases for my microsoft account and I can use any of them to login to Microsoft services - but they all link to the one single account I have with Microsoft. ...

Re: Windows 11
I wonder if John is actually referring to the Windows Snipping Tool, rather than traditional Cut & Paste? I know that Snip & Sketch was introduced and this may now be the default application, but it can be turned back to Snipping Tool. I also read recently that the Print Screen key default behaviou...

I've not spotted any issues with copy and paste in Windows 11. I use Windows 10 at work in the daytime and Windows 11 at home and they 'feel' the same to me.

Re: FH Short Date and ISO Format
Nick, One can’t be sure if a date was written using the standard, that was my point. If you write a book/article and explain that all dates within are written to that standard, then fair enough, but otherwise I stand by what I said, any date written using number is inherently ambiguous. Even your e...

Re: FH Short Date and ISO Format
IMO, that is a significant shortcoming, as it is the only numeric date format that is globally unambiguous. Sorry to disagree Mark, but any date using numbers only has the potential to be ambiguous. A date wriiten as 1945-06-08 is ambiguous! Did the writer mean 8th June or 6th August?. Was he using...

Re: Length of Printout
If you are purchasing hardware then there is no limit within Family Historian, the PDF limit does not apply. So when you print direct the length is related to the length of the roll used. Most paper rolls are around 50m so I suspect that is probably the maximum. I wonder if there might potentially ...

That's because it isn't a GEDCOM file! You need to import it on the Census Templates page via the Tools menu and Census Template Editor.

It may be that Windows File Explorer isn't refreshing. Try pressing F5 to refresh the list of files and see if the date modified changes then.

Re: Invalid Date Field
I see. I was confusing the Census Template with the Source Template. I will read up on the AS Census Template and decide on next steps. Guess I didn't think I would have keep creating new templates . . . guess I don't have complete grasp on the concept. Thanks again. Well normally you wouldn't have...

Re: Invalid Date Field
I'm referring to the Census Template screen where you created the census template in the first place (Tools menu and then click on Census Template...). Census Template 1.png As you've already created the template you can't edit the 'Type' so what you would need to do is to is select the template (Ce...

Re: Invalid Date Field
1) Yes the Census template is the one that defines the columns in the census grid.
3) You can just type your own title into the Type combo box, you don't need to select one from the list.
4) Yes the converter should work regardless of the type of 'census'

I created the Source Template Definition shown in the attached screenshot and loaded it to FH7 and AS. Yes, the template is my creation. Re: Have lost access to FH on desktop and laptop (OneDrive)
Yes Nick, I realise OneDrive is not syncing now, but it seems it has never synced because the folder names are very different. Yes but it's going to be practically impossible for you to help him to resolve this if you also have to work around a 5GB limit. I know it costs money but the UK cost of bu...
