Chris, if you're using Visual Studio 6 or VB 6 have you got the latest service pack? I've got a feeling this will make sure you have the latest dlls, etc.
I'd also recommend Inno Setup for your setup program. http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php

Marital status on census
Marital status can be recorded in the Source Text as usual but Gedcom Census doesn't have a facility to create an event to record death of a spouse. It would be a bit of an add-on to do this as the person who died obviously isn't one of the people you have selected for the census. It is a fairly eas...

Gedcom census - flags
Just to clarify, Gedcom Census will add flags to existing census entries too. Once you have told Gedcom Census to associate flags with particular dates or years you can use the Flag Check option which tells Gedcom Census to go through your file adding the flags where appropriate. You can also set th...

If it is the order of events, children or spouses that are out of sequence you can use 'Reorder out of Sequence Data' which you will find in the Tools menu.

Gedcom census and Multimedia links
I just wanted to clarify that the earlier versions of Gedcom Census that didn't add the Link/Note weren't doing anything wrong. Link/Notes are not created in Family Historian when linking from a source to an image, only when linking from an image to a source (which one might haved expected to be the...

Hannah: The current version does create these link/note records when linking to new images using recording method 1. Adding links to earlier images is not quite so easy unfortunately. Dave: This is a bug so thanks for spotting it, I'll hopefully fix it in the next version. If you edit the Gedcom fil...

I think more people are likely to make a comment if they don't like something than if they do. Not sure whether this is relevant in your case but in particular clear type only really works properly on an LCD monitor where your screen resolution matches the native mode of the monitor. I believe the n...

This is because of the 'Clear Type' being turned on. It is apparently really designed to make viewing fonts on LCD monitors better. There are ways of 'tuning' the fonts. You can turn off clear type in the Options under Advanced, 'Always use cleartype for HTML'. More about it here: http://blogs.msdn....

Sorry, still haven't found time to release the update, I am determined to add some extra features rather than just release a bug fix version but I just can't seem to find the time at the moment.
I'll be in touch via email.

According to this website that I found with Google: http://www.uk-bmd.org.uk/BMD-part1.html Marriage certificates, which were also organized in columns, give the following information: the date of the event; names of the bride and groom; ages of the bride and groom (the record may only indicate 'of ...

It seems to bring up the Paypal screen when I use it, with my email address filled in and it certainly appears to be the actual paypal website processing it (rather than a scam site). Census as family and GedCom Census
Hi Answer 1: Gedcom Census doesn't support 'census as family', it creates individual census events for each person. As I understand it a family consists of a couple (usually) and their children and so census events for families don't really work as children tend to come and go between census records...

How do you organise your files?
To respond to Lindsey's method, I use Gedcom Census for my census records (obviously!) and I make use of the facility to link the census image to my census sources and I also allow it to rename the image to match the source. The default naming scheme for sources in Gedcom Census means that a typical...

Could you add certificate entry as well?
It is something I had planned to do (and the FAQ in this section mentions later this year). However, since my wife and I had a baby late last year I've had very little time for anything other than her, work and sleep!
We'll see is probably the best answer.

Gedcom Census Review
In the November 2006 edition of Family Tree Magazine ( http://www.family-tree.co.uk ) there is an excellent article by John Hanson entitled Have you recorded your sources? which discusses how to use sources. Under the section on Censuses he writes: GEDCOM Census is a good utility program, that works...

Yes I noticed that yesterday, it is a typo, sorry about that it should say method 1. It will be fixed in the next update. If you read the help file (Which recording method?) it explains the reason why method 1 is recommended. Changing between methods isn't so easy unfortunately and it would take a l...

New relevant persons on old census entries
In Family Historian you need to copy and paste the events from someone else who appears in the census record: 1) find someone who appears in the census record you are referring to. 2) Look at their events and select the one for the census in question. 3) Click on the 'Copy Events/Attributes' button ...

I think you must have chosen the new option under Method 2 options, 'Record census source text in a shared note'. Just untick that to make sure method 2 works as before. Also make sure none of the 'miscellaneous' options are tikced. Hopefully that answers the question but I feel I ought to say a bit...

True (and well worth reminding people of) but not if you've then moved off onto another text box, it doesn't retain an undo history. Also most applications which do this would have a cancel button on the dialogue (though I can see why this wouldn't be a good idea in this case). The point is why does...

Firstly I don't see why the space-bar is being singled out, pressing any key that produces a letter/number/symbol will cause the name to be deleted. I agree that this does seem a little dangerous, especially with the lack of an undo feature. The only reason why some dialogues in Windows highlight th...
